Former KCCA Football Club player and coach Jackson Mayanja is one of the latest additions to the new board.

Mayanja is arguably one of the finest talents to have donned the KCCA jersey and being on the governing body of the club is a great honour to the legend.

The other notable addition is Paul Mugabe who replaces Makindye Municipality Mayor Ali Kasirye Mulyanyama.

Mulyanyama’s exit is reported to be a result of his conflict with Kampala City Mayor Elias Lukwago.

In a statement released by KCCA FC, the club confirmed they have a nine-member governing body that was appointed last week.

“In its (KCCA) sitting of 31st August 2023, under minute No. KCCA/17/73/2023, the authority council approved the aforesaid save for the Vice Chairperson Aggrey Ashaba, who has been referred back to the Authority for scrutiny,” a communication from the Lord Mayor read.

The position of Vice Chairperson will remain vacant till talks between the authority and Ashaba come to an end.

The board will be led by Engineer Andrew Sserujongi Mukiibi who replaces Martin Ssekajja.

According to Sserunjogi, he has three priorities under his tenure. He yearns to complete the stadium, increase the fanbase, and also attract higher club sponsorships.

The new KCCA FC board members are;

  1. Eng. Sserunjogi Andrew Mukiibi – Chairperson
  2. His Worship Paul Mugambe – Mayoral Representative
  3. Hon. Jeremiah Keeya Mwanje – Authority Councilor
  4. Hon. Nusifa Nakato – Authority Councillor
  5. Mr. Peter Kibazo – Fans’ Representative
  6. Mr. Ivan Kiirya – KCCA Treasury/Accountant
  7. Mr. Tom Lwanga – Club Legend
  8. Mr. Jackson Mayanja – Club Legend
  9. Mr. Joseph Kirimanyi – KCCA Auditor

After the completion of FUFA Super 8, KCCA Football Club finished third after edging rivals SC Villa in a 3-2 victory.

During the post match presser, KCCA FC head coach Sergio Traguil revealed thats it’s early to draw conclusions but rather support and be patient with the boys.

“It takes time to change a number of things more so if they are used but they are getting better day by day and it’s crucial we stick to the plan.

“If I wanted to just win games then I would just put two strikers kick the ball and run after it. It would be too easy for me but it’s not for me. I want to win and with quality. However, that takes time,” Traguil said.

The Portugues gaffer stressed the need to plan for what lies ahead since it matters most to the club and its faithful.

“The most important thing is to have the boys ready for the things that are coming ahead. We have the Super Cup ahead of us, the CAF Confederation group stages and also preparing for the league.

“We still have a task of preparing the boys in different systems. We should always have a plan B and Part C from A. Being KCCA, we need to think about winning but every competition will have only one winner.”

Sergio revealed that it’s a bit frustrating that they failed to win FUFA Super 8 but now the main target will be winning the League title.

“It’s a bit frustrating that we finished third but we shall keep preparing for the things ahead. The main target is winning the league. We have changed the mentality, methodology and system so it will take time,“ he concluded.

KCCA will be taking on Vipers SC in the FUFA Super Cup before the start of the 2023/24 season.

Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC is set to name Andrew Sserunjogi as the new club chairperson.

Sserunjongi will be replacing Martin Ssekajja who has reportedly thrown in the towel at the Lugogo based club.

According to a source that spoke to New Vision, the chairman Ssekajja left KCCA and so there is need to replace him with someone in the authority.

“When Martin (Ssekajja) left KCCA, there was no way he could continue working as chairman,” the source said.

“Remember, the chairperson is the accounting officer of the club so he is supposed to liaise with the authority,” the source added.

“To be chairperson in the club does not mean you will run it. There structures put in place like the secretariat headed by the CEO who runs day to day activities of the club.”

“Even when Martin joined the club, he was not in the football circle but he managed to deliver,” it concluded.

The new chairperson will have an assignment to steer the club back to winning ways since there trophy drought has stretched to four years.

They also seek to go back to the continental stage and they are a two-legged affair away from the mark.

However, he will also be required to see that the MTN Omondi Stadium gets completed after a slow flow of the construction process.

Joel Mutakubwa came off the bench in the final minute of the game and saved three of URA FC’s penalties to help BUL win the FUFA Super 8.

After a goalless draw, BUL registered a 3-1 penalty shootout victory against URA FC in the final played at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Sunday.

It was a slow start for both teams as they struggled to find the required rhythm for the final.

None of the two teams weaved together a sensible number of passes but rather skied the ball all through.

URA FC’s first chance came in the 25th minute after Ivan Ahimbisibwe set up Joshua Lubwama but the resultant effort went over the frame by inches.

In the 34th minute, Ahimbisibwe climbed highest to node Enock Walusimbi’s lofted cross but he directed it far from the target.

Saidi Keni made a stunning save to deny Ahimbisibwe as URA kept knocking on BUL’s door with five minutes to play in the first stanza.

In the 62nd minute, Jerome Kirya’s curling ball was finger-tipped away by URA’s custodian Denis Otim.

The second half was reminiscent of the first as there were no threatening attacks on either side as they both looked comfortable with the scoreline.

In the final minute of the game, Walusimbi tripped Joel Madondo in the dangerous area but the centre referee denied BUL what looked like a clear penalty.

After a barren stalemate, the centre referee sent the match into penalties.

BUL’s penalties were converted by Lawrence Tezikya, Jerome Kirya, and Joel Mutakubwa as Ronald Otti missed

Joshua Lubwama was the only URA to convert from the 12-yard mark as Sharipf Kimbowa, Hudu Mulikyi, and Nicholas Kabonge all missed.
