It was the second victory for the Ethiopian side in the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Tuesday.

Senaf Denise nearly put CBE FC ahead but the FAD FC goalkeeper was equal to the challenge to deny the forward a goal-bound chance in the 15th minute.

Fifteen minutes later, Senaf finally guided the ball into the net to open the goal-scoring party on the green turf before Seneth Tadesse doubled the lead two minutes later.

In the last five minutes of the first stanza, Getnate Nardos and captain Loza Abera widened the lead after scoring in the 42nd and 43rd minutes respectively.

The centre referee sent both sides into the long break while CBE had a whooping lead by four goals to nil.

Eight minutes into the second stanza, Areseget Birra scored the fifth after curling home into the top right corner capitalising on Abera’s delivery.

Seneth found herself in the perfect place to tap home off a rebound, it was the second for the forward and the sixth for the team.

In the last minute of the game, Odong tapped into an empty hitting the last nail into FAD’s coffin who looked so poor all through the game.

Kampala Queens fell to Buja Queens 2-1 in a CAF Women Champions League Zonal Qualifier played at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Tuesday.

The Queens of Soccer will now switch focus to the two remaining games as they seek to qualify out of the group if they are to keep their chance of qualifying for the continental stage.

Margret Kunihira tried her luck from a distance with a powerful effort but he failed to find the target in the eighth minute.

In the 21st minute, Topister Sifuma effortlessly nodded home Elizabeth Wambui’s lofted cross thus placing Buja Queens into the lead.

Six minutes later Shakira Nyinagahira cut back in front of the goal searching for Hasifa Nassuna but Buja’s Emeliana Isaya cleared her line.

Kampala Queens goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro gave away the ball but Wambui failed to find the target with an empty at her disposal.

Right at the start of the second half, Catherine Nagadya forced Buja Queen’s custodian Monica Karambu into a save for Kampala Queens’ corner kick.

Karambu was at it again as he palmed away Hassifa Nassuna’s venomous shot. Kampala Queens committed bodies as they continued to search for a leveller.

Seven minutes into the second stanza, Situma completed a brace. Nakaziro saved the forward’s earlier header but Situma scored on the rebound.

Vipers SC registered a 1-0 victory against Maroons SC in the FUFA Super Eight classification game at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Saturday.

The Venoms kicked off with the right momentum making quick runs as Maroons started the game choosing to be on the receiving end.

In the 37th minute, Noel Nasasira remained with only a keeper to beat from close range but his effort was so weak to beat Vipers’ goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza.

As the end of the first stanza was looming, Brazilian forward Giancarlo Rodriguez broke the deadlock through a powerful freekick that got the net shaking.

At the start of the second half, Mohamed Salem and Grant Matsiko replaced Ashraf Mandela and Giancarlo.

The first minutes after recess were so physical as Maroons geared up in search of a leveller.

Richard Matovu fouled Hadadi Kambungu a step away from the box but Tusubira’s later freekick was far from desired.

With six minutes to end the game, Mukundane lost possession in the box but Darius Ojok’s cutback was not met by anyone.

Salem and Abubaker Lawal had chances to widen the lead but failed to place the ball on target.

In the 10th minute, David Owori nearly gave SC Villa the lead from close range but BUL’s custodian Joel Mutakubwa pulled off a stunning save.

Nine minutes later, Peter Onzima delivered a darling cross into the area but Ivan Bogere failed to take away the cut clear chance.

In the 26th minute, Onzima finally found the back of the net capitalising on Bogere’s precise through pass.

With four minutes to end the first stanza, Kalyowa was once again fouled at the edge of the area but the center referee awarded BUL a penalty.

Samuel Sekamatte stepped up for the assignment and sweetly guided the ball past Meddie Kibirige to restore parity.

The second stanza was cagey as both sides struggled to get ahead of the other.

KCCA FC’s youthful striker Abubaker Mayanja says he still wants to keep his name on the scoring board.

Mayanja harvested a brace on his first official game for KCCA FC. This happened in the game as they played Wakiso Giants in the FUFA Super 8.

“I just want to keep scoring more goals,” Abubaker was quoted by KCCA FC’s official website.

“I have been scoring goals in the practice games but it is a better feeling to score on my full debut for the club,” he added.

Mayanja recently got promoted to the club’s senior team and he can not stop praising the coach for the golden chance he has awarded to him.

“I would like to thank Coach Sergio Traguil for trusting me and giving me a chance to play. My dream is to see the club where it belongs,” he concluded.

Mayanja has given the KCCA FC faithful a reason to believe that they will not be missing Charles Lwanga who recently saw the back door thus joining SC Villa.

Mayanja scored the only goal and KCCA U20 edged Azam U20 to win the finals of the Cambiasso and Rainbow International tournament.

The Kasasiro Boys will be locking horns with URA FC on Sunday, August 20 in the semifinals of the FUFA Super 8 at MTN Omondi Stadium.

Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC forward Edward Kizza was a second-half substitute as he helped his club register another routine win over Hartford in the USL Championship.

Pittsburgh had to wait three hours in a rain delay before getting the opportunity to win 2-0 at Highmark Stadium.

The victory was the third straight for the Riverhounds (13-8-4), who ended their four-game home stand with three wins out of four.

Kizza was heavily involved in action after he replaced forward Juan Carlos (J.C.) Obregón Jr. He got two great chances to put the match away for good, but unfortunately didn’t convert.

The Ugandan received a cross and blasted a shot on goal, but Hartford goalkeeper Joe Rice pushed it away for a corner in the 56th minute.

He again received a perfect pass from midfielder Junior Etou, but his shot weakly hit the post and amounted to nothing in the 66th minute.

Albert Dikwa and Obregón had earlier found the back of the net for Pittsburgh for a two-goal cushion in the 16th and 42nd minutes.

Pittsburgh will travel to California mid-week to take on Orange County SC on Wednesday.
