New York Red Bulls II’s Ibrahim Kasule has been voted MLS NEXT Pro Player of the Month for July alongside Crown Legacy FC’s Patrick Agyemang.

Kasule scooped the award after scoring in all four games for his side but also providing one assist.

During Red Bulls II’s Matchday 19 encounter against Orlando City B, Kasule continued his scoring spree by converting a game-winning penalty kick.

The penalty goal extended his scoring streak to four consecutive games in July and an impressive seven games overall.

New York Red Bulls II Head Coach Ibrahim Sekagya praised Kasule’s run of form:

“When you talk about Kasule, having ten goals and four assists in eleven matches, that’s unbelievable. It’s because it is what he wants, he wants it,” he said.

“The more you want it, the more you work, it’s not a surprise because in training he is doing it and you can see the results.”

Kasule signed with New York Red Bulls II from Wakiso Giants FC in the Ugandan Premier League.

At Wakiso, he consistently appeared in the starting lineup during their 2022-2023 season.

He won their Player of the Month award for his former club this past October after scoring a goal and tallying two assists in three matches.

Uganda Cranes forward Rogers Mato Kassim has joined Turkish Second division side Şanlıurfa Spor Kulübü from KCCA Football Club.

Mato was absent as KCCA announced their official squad for the upcoming 2023-24 season at the MTN Omondi Stadium on Friday.

The striker with a good eye for goal joined KCCA FC at the start of the 2021-22 season inking a four years contract from Proline FC.

The forward’s performance last season was outstanding with Kasasiro scoring 15 goals in all competitions and waste club’s top scorer.

Mato joins Allan Okello, Mustafa Kizza, Benjamin Ochan, Geoffrey Wasswa, and Brian Majwega among others who have departed the Lugogo-based side.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Wasswa and Muhammad Ssenoga Kagawa were sent out on loan to Express FC and Wakiso Giants respectively.

Ugandan and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Ismail Watenga will spend another season on loan after his spell at Marumo Gallants ended.

Watenga struggled to become the first choice while at Marumo because Washington Arubi was favoured more, the former making only five appearances.

The season before, Watenga featured in 10 games while on loan at Chippa United and kept clean sheets in the opening seven league games.

Watenga has reportedly spent three consecutive seasons on loan and will spend the upcoming season on loan at Golden Arrows.

The 28-year-old has been training with the club for several days and has been confirmed as one of their latest arrivals.

Watenga’s international career started when he was summoned to Uganda Cranes on January 2014, by coach Milutin Sredojević for the 2014 African Nations Championship.

The team was third in the group stage of the competition after beating Burkina Faso, drawing with Zimbabwe, and losing to Morocco.

Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC registered a 2-0 victory against Kakamega Homeboyz in a friendly game that was played at MTN Omondi Stadium.

Usama Arafat and Julius Poloto were on target to see that the football fiesta ended with KCCA taking home all the bragging rights.

The event started with a light downpour before Ugandan artist Spice Diana lit the stage with her ‘Siri Regular’ vibes after announcing the 2023/24 seasonal squad.

In the fourth minute, Ashraf Mugume set up Etienne Katenga whose resultant shot went above the frame slightly.

Eleven minutes later, Adilson Bruno released a darling cross into the box but Muhammad Shaban failed to meet the ball, wasting a clear-cut chance.

In the second stanza, Sergio made ten changes, giving a chance to new players to allow them to get a feel of the green.

Uganda takes on Tanzania in the CECAFA Women’s U18 Championship decider at Azam Complex Chamazi Stadium today.

It will be a title decider in which a point for Uganda means they will have gone past the hosts Tanzania to clinch the regional title.

Ayub Khalifa’s charges have been the best side so far, they have played three games, bagged three victories and are yet to concede a goal.

That means they top the log with nine points, level with Tanzania who have a less goal difference in the championship that has been played in a round-robin format.

In a pre-match interview with the press, Khalifa revealed it’s not going to be an easy game but they are ready to give it the required fight.

“It’s not going to be an easy game. It’s more like a final and the one who wins takes the day,” he noted.

“But the girls are ready and determined to win this game. We shall go out there and fight to ensure that we pick the required victory,” he added.

Uganda need only to deny Tanzania a win since just a point is enough to announce the girls as champions of the CECAFA region.
