BUL Football Club has completed the signing of Emmanuel Kalyowa from Kyetume Football Club.

The experienced midfielder signed a two-year contract with the Eastern Giants.

Kalyowa has been a regular for The Slaughters in the Fufa Big League, scoring six goals and making seven assists in the past one-and-a-half seasons.

“Kalyowa is among those players in the country who can work out chances, so we have brought him to help increase our creativity upfront.

“In the first round, we were not efficient and effective at creating goal-scoring opportunities, sometimes failing to win and even drawing some games because goals were not coming.”

“So, if he fits into our philosophy well, he will be so useful in that area and this will help us reach our destiny,” head coach Alex Isabirye said of the new signing.

Kalyowas has top-flight experience having played for Vipers SC, Express, Tooro United and SC Villa.

“BUL is a strong and competitive team with great ambitions, and if I blend in well, we shall achieve our goals,” said the new signing.

Isthmian Premier League Division:

Bognor Regis Town overcame a hard-fighting Corinthian – Casuals outfit 2-1 during the Isthmian League premier division at the United Business Group stadium (King George’s field) before 308 fans.

Nathan Odokonyero gave the Rocks the early lead on six minutes. This was his 20th goal of the season for the Ugandan national.

The joy was short-lived as Simbarashe Kudyiwa levelled matters three minutes later as the half-time ended 1-goal apiece.

Super substitute Matt Paterson scored the match-winner with four minutes to wind down the game.

Paterson had replaced Dan Gifford in the 76th minute.

Bognor Regis Town captain Harvey Whyte was named man of the match.

Focus for Bogor Regis Town will switch to the Sussex senior cup on Tuesday, 31st January 2023 against EB Football Club at Eastbourne.

On three different occasions, this game has been postponed for varying reasons.

15-year-old Claus Rebh Kagimu has transferred to Glasgow United 07s, an entity based in Scotland.

The development comes after a spell at Sons of Struth Football Academy.

Glasgow United 07s head coach Robert Kenney has hailed the young forward’s technical ability on the ball as well as his fancy runs (with blistering pace) on and off the ball.

Claus (Kagimu) brings technical skills to the football culture here (at Glasgow United 07s). He has adapted to the fast paced nature of the football game in Scotland we also think that with his skills coupled with the pace of the game here can only develop into an excellent footballer.

For starters, Kagimu who plays in the central and wide positions commenced his football journey at the Uganda Youth Soccer Academy (UYSA).

He is son to Ivan Kakembo, a holder of the FIFA club management diploma.

Kakembo is a former football administrator at Uganda’s most successful most family, Sports Club Villa and Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).

Kagimu had also featured at Pro Touch Soccer Academy in Camden, London and Cambuslang Yellow colts.

Pro Touch Soccer Academy has an exchange program with Uganda Youth Soccer Academy (UYSA).

Kagimu was born in Kampala on 31st October 2007 before he shifted base to the United Kingdom at an early age to enhance his education.

BUL Football Club has signed Samuel Kayongo Ssekamatte from Arua Hill.

The 29-year-old forward joins the Eastern Giants on a two-year contract.

“Sam is a good striker who can score goals, create chances and he is the right player we can sign now.

“He will absolutely add something to the team and I believe he will do the job but I will not put pressure on him,” head coach Alex Isabirye said.

Ssekamatte started his playing career at Masaka LC and later played for SC Victoria University and KCCA FC as well as the Red Arrows of Zambia.

He scored five goals and contributed seven assists during his one-and-a-half-year stint at Arua Hill.

“I believe in the project and I have a good relationship with the coaches here. I want to contribute as much as possible to the expectations of the coaches and the club.

“BUL competed in the Confederations Cup this season and I want to work hard to get this club back to the continent,” Ssekamatte said.

Fufa will receive US $ 300,000 in prize money despite the Uganda Cranes failing to make it out of the group at the ongoing African Nations Championship in Algeria.

This is a reward for finishing third in the group that had DR Congo, Ivory Coast and Senegal – where the latter two progressed to the last eight.

Caf announced a 60% increase in the prize money for the winner of the final that will be played on February 04, 2023.

“The Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) has announced a significant 60% increase on the prize money for the winner of ongoing TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) Algeria 2022…,” read part of the media statement from CAF.

“The winner of this year’s trophy will receive $ 2 million compared to the US$1,250,000 received by the previous champion two years ago.

“The total prize money allocated for the tournament has been increased to US$ 7,900,000 from the US$ 5,450,000 that was paid to all the countries that participated in the previous edition of the tournament two years ago.

“The runners-up will get US$800,000 while the third and fourth-placed teams will receive $500,000 each.

“The four sides that fail to progress beyond the quarter-finalists will get $400,000 each while the two countries that finish second in the groups of three teams will earn $300,000 each, the same amount as countries that finish third in groups of four teams.

“The bottom-placed teams in all the groups will earn $200,000 each.”

According to the statement, the decision for an increment is in line with CAF’s strategy to increase the commercial value of African competition.

Uganda finished third in Group after drawing, losing and winning once against DR Congo, Ivory Coast and Senegal respectively.

Ibrahim Kasule has joined Turkish side Ankara Keciörengücü.

The Wakiso Giants’ creative midfielder signed a three-and-half-year deal with the Turkish outfit.

Kasule’s impressive form in the first half of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League attracted interest from a number of clubs including the New York Red Bulls.

It was reported that former Uganda Cranes captain Ibrahim Sekagya who is a coach at New York Red Bulls courted Kasule alongside teammate Frank Ssebuufu.

However, the Turkish moved faster to secure Kasule’s signature.

At the time of his departure, the attacking midfielder scored five goals and made five assists in the first round of the league.

Kasule left the country for Turkey at the start of the year as the local Cranes team was in Tunisia preparing for the African Nations Championship (Chan).

Kasule is listed as a new entrant in the club’s U19s and is expected to play at least a season with the team’s U19 side.

Uganda Crested Cranes forward Favour Danielita Nambatya has joined Rwanda’s women’s top premier club, Apaer women’s Football Club.

The 21-year-old striker joins the Kigali city-based entity on a short-term deal from the reigning Uganda Women Super League champions She Corporate.

Nambatya travelled to Rwanda’s capital city Kigali to sign the employment contract and was also officially handed over her favourite shirt 14.

“I am excited to have been scouted and signed at Apaer Women Football Club in Rwanda. I want to utilize this as a bold stepping stone in my career to further attain my goals in life of playing in the world’s women’s best leagues.” Nambatya revealed her dream moves to Rwanda.

For starters, Apaer Women’s Football Club is managed by a vocational institution dealing in electricity, building, accounting, and computing, among others.

She was part of the triumphant She Corporate Women Football Club as they clinched the 2021-2022 FUFA Women Super League title.

She is a former player at St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende, Masaka SS (Aga Khan), Kawempe Muslim, Muteesa Royal University and lately Makerere University Business School (MUBS).

Nambatya’s club career has seen her feature at Kawempe Muslim Women’s Football Club, Muteesa Royal University Women’s Football Club and lately She Corporate Women’s Football Club.

In the CAF Women’s Champions League (CECAFA Zone qualifiers), she scored as many as six goals. For the current 2022-2023 season, she had so far scored two goals in as many games played.

She is also a member of the senior women’s national team (Crested Cranes) and has earned five international caps.

Experienced football scout-cum-coach Nimrod Charles Kintu has switched allegiance to Mbale in Eastern Uganda.

Kintu is expected to beef up the technical docket at FUFA Big League outfit Kataka Football Club for the second half of the 2022-2023 season.

At Kataka Football Club, he joins head coach Godfrey “Toldo” Awachango who has been working alongside Martin Munyenye and Mbale Heroes legend Ibrahim Maruti.

“Mbale has been my second home away from home. Kataka Football Club itself is home as well. I am happy to serve whenever given the opportunity” Kintu who has now worked for close to 24 years in the football industry revealed.

By the time of his arrival in Mbale city, Kintu has been confined in Kampala at St Andrew’s Kaggwa – Gombe High and at Bukedea-based Amus College.

The decision to work in Mbale could be envisaged as a blessing to Amus College given the proximity of Mbale to Bukedea via-a-vis the close relationship between the two parties in the box (Kataka and Amus College).

Over the years, Kintu has also worked closely with the Amus College director Hon Patrick Isiagi Opolot.

Kintu is a holder of a CAF high-level coaching and fitness certificate. He coached in the Uganda Premier League at Gaba United (Top TV).

He has also handled FUFA Big League clubs such as Kataka (Mbale), Ntinda United, and Naguru as well as regional sides Kamwokya United and FrontPage as well as Kataka.

Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Bugema and Kyambogo universities were once coached by Kintu as well as underage sides Friends of Football (FOF) and Kampala Kids League (KKL).

The 49th edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 64 draws were today held at the FUFA Complex in Mengo.

FUFA Competitions Director Aisha Nalule conducted the draw in the presence of FUFA 3rd Vice President Hon. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, and the tournament sponsors representative Diana Kahunde.

“A record 308 teams competed in the Regional Preliminaries to determine which 33 teams joined the StarTimes Uganda Premier League and Big League sides in the Round of 64” Aisha Nalule, Competitions Directo, noted.

“This is an increase from the 249 teams that competed in the previous season (2021/22) and the 159 teams that competed in the 2019/20 season” she added.

Uganda Premier League and FUFA Big League sides will be on the road against regional and non-league side teams.

Uganda Cranes failed to reach the quarter-finals of the Africa Nations Championship for the sixth time after falling 3-1 to Ivory Coast in the final group game of the 2022 edition.

The Cranes went into the game top of the group with four points but couldn’t make it past Ivory Coast.

Sankara Karamoko gave the West Africans an early lead with a diving header in the 12th minute before Vignon Outro doubled the lead in the 27th minute.

Moses Waiswa cut the deficit in the 31st minute converting from his spot after his KCCA teammate Rogers Mato was fouled in the area as the first half ended with the Cranes down.

Micho brought on attacking midfielders Travis Mutyaba and Titus Ssematimba for Frank Ssebuufu who had a header saved early on and Karim Watambala.

Cranes dominated proceedings with Karisa, Mato and Ssematimba coming close from Mutyaba but it was a little too late.

The 78th minute saw the man of the match Karamoko beat the Cranes’ defence with his skill and set up Aubin Kouame Kramo who sealed the victory with a well-taken goal.

Senegal beating DR Congo 3-0 in the other group game meant Uganda finished third in the group and exited the tournament.
