Former Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Denis Onyango is secretly being lured to come back from international retirement, according to Kawowo Sports.

The Mamelodi Sundowns shot-stopper announced his retirement from the national team in April last year following a failed AFCON 2021 qualification campaign.

The 2016 CAF African Player of the Year based in Africa is however in secret talks with Fufa over a possible return to the national team ahead of the 2023 Afcon qualifiers.

A source at the FA revealed to Kawowo Sports that Onyango was being convinced to return and guide the young lads during a rebuilding process.

“There are talks but I don’t know how far for now,” a source said. “But he is seen as someone that would give confidence to the team and also that fear factor that we (Cranes) once had,” he added.

However, we can reliably report that he hasn’t joined the team in Algiers and in any case if the talks yield fruits, he would then be available for selection against Niger on June 8 at St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende.

Vipers have vowed to keep their top marks man Ceaser Manzoki after the Central African Republic (CAR) international became a free agent.

His contract expired after his two year contract with the Ugandan league champions.

The forward is a subject of interest from various clubs on the continent including Tanzania’s Simba, South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates as well as Algeria’s AC Paradou.

“He hasn’t signed for any club at the moment,” a source close to the player revealed to Kawowo Sports.

“But he will give priority to Vipers if they match his asking price that the bigger clubs are offering him at the moment,”

Manzoki is currently with his national team, CAR who are involved in the ongoing 2023 Afcon qualifiers.

Manzoki scored 18 league goals last season as Vipers clinched a 5th league title and won the Golden Boot.
