Uganda Martyrs Lubaga and She Corporate played to a two-all draw on Friday in a FUFA Women Super League encounter played at Lubaga.

Catherine Nagadya’s late penalty kick rescued a point for Uganda Martyrs against table leaders.

Kevin Nakacwa had given Martyrs the lead in the 20th minute but goals from Susan Atim and Phiona Nabumba had pegged them back to a trailing position

In the evenly contested encounter that saw few chances, Uganda Martyrs had the first say when Nakacwa beat goalkeeper Daphine Nyayenga at the far post to hand hosts the lead in the 20th minute.

Ten minutes later, Atim restored parity when she tapped in Regina Nantege’s teasing cross.

Five minutes to halftime, Shamusa Nalujja would have restored Martyrs’ lead but her close effort off Anitah Namata’s corner was saved by Nyayenga to end the first half level.

In the 58th minute, the visitors utilized their only chance when Naume Nagadya’s through ball caught Martyrs’ defence off guard to meet running Nabbumba who made no mistake and put the visitors in the lead.

At the death, Nagadya leveled matters from a penalty following Swabula Nkomba’s foul on Latifah Nakasi in the area.

About the MLS Next Pro

MLS Next Pro is a men’s professional soccer league in the United States and Canada that is affiliated with Major League Soccer (MLS).

It launched in 2022 with 21 teams, of which 20 are reserve sides for MLS clubs and the independent Rochester New York FC.

The league is classified as part of the third tier of the United States Soccer League system.

Proline Football Club has been relegated to the 3rd tier of Uganda’s football pyramid, the Regional League.

The fate of the former Uganda Premier League outfit was confirmed on the final day of the 2021-22 Fufa Big League.

Going into the final day of the season, Proline’s fate was out of their hands, and needed one of the two results from the other final day fixtures to play in their fovour.

Proline’s survival depended on either Luwero United or Ndejje University losing their games against Blacks Power and Kitara, but none went in their favour.

Ndejje whipped Kitara 5-0 while Luwero United lost 2-1 Blacks Power but maintained a superior goal difference. Luwero finished with -4 compared to Proline’s -7.

Meanwhile, Maroons and Kyetume return to the top flight and are joined by Blacks Power for the 2022-23 season.
