Onduparaka Football Club and Express Football Club settled for a draw in the Uganda Premier League match played at the Greenlight Stadium.

The Red Eagles finished the game with ten men after Enoch Ssebagala was given marching orders for a second bookable offense. Ssebagala had replaced John Byamukama.

Muhammad Shaban opened the scoring in the 9th minute with a rebound after Express goalkeeper Denis Otim spilled Emmanuel Oketch’s shot.

Winger Godfrey Lwesibawa drew Express level with a left-footed volley in the 27th minute after being set up by Eric Kambale.

Shaban had a chance to win it late for the hosts but his effort rattled the crossbar as the visitors held on for a point.

Express remains 6th with 12 points while Onduparaka also stayed put in 11th place with 9 points from eight matches.

Result: Wakiso Giants 4-2 Soltilo Bright Stars

Wakiso Giants came from a goal down to beat visitors Soltilo Bright Stars 4-2 at Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium on Tuesday.

Edward Satulo, Ivan Bogere, Pius Kaggwa scored for the Purple Sharks who also had an own goal from Derrick Ngoobi to show while James Angu netted for Simon Peter Mugerwa’s charges.

The hosts grabbed the lead after just two minutes when Angu capitalised on poor communication between the hosts’ defence to volley home.

The lead last sixteen minutes as Satulo jumped highest to head Simon Namwanja free kick home.

Bogere put the hosts in the lead for the first time with a diving header after he read another Namwanja cross into the area in the 28th minute.

In the 35th minute, Joseph Youngman drove through the midfield to set up Angu who restored parity as the first half ended all square.

Six minutes after recess, the high flying Sharks got their lead back when Kimbowa looped the ball over Hassan Matovu in Bright Stars’ goal and it bounced off the post and the onrushing Ngoobi put it behind his net.

Kaggwa who had come off for Tom Masiko extended the lead with a beautiful strike that sealed the hosts’ victory.

Forward Alfred Leku scored the all-important goal of the evening as Arua Hill overcame Busoga United 1-0 in Njeru on Tuesday.

This was the third victory for Arua Hill in 7 matches which takes them to 8th on the log with 10 points.

Leku’s goal arrived in the 62nd minute, a well tapped in strike past goalkeeper Michael Nantamu.

There were only two cautions in the game; one per side for Arua Hill’s Rashid Kawawa and Busoga United defender Derrick Basoga in the 84th and 88th minutes respectively.

At the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium in Wakiso, the home side Wakiso Giants beat visiting Soltilo Bright Stars 4-2.

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) competitions disciplinary panel has suspended the captain of Onduparaka Football Club Rashid Okocha for the misconduct.

The incident happened during the game he was red-carded against Sports Club Villa at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.

Okocha was sent off by referee Ashadu Ssemeere in the 65th minute after a second bookable offense following a wild lunge onto star player Travis Mutyaba.

He consequently attacked the referee and delayed to get out of the field of play therefore getting suspended from all football activities effective immediately as of 30th November 2021 until 18th December 2021.

The suspension also came alongside a cash fine of Shs. 500,000 to be paid into the FUFA Account No.7210000969 Eco Bank Ndeeba Branch, with proof of payment to the committee.

In the said game (SC Villa rallied from a goal down to beat Onduparaka 2-1) and the ruling of the decision CDP No. 30 of 2021 regards violent conduct towards an opponent and attacking the referee.

The panel whose chairman is Deo Mutabazi relied on a video clip to make the ruling after Okocha was seen playing in a violent manner towards an opponent (Mutyaba).

“This misconduct is contrary to the FUFA Competitions Rules and Regulations and puts the game of football into disrepute. The fine (Shs. 500,000) should be paid by 18th December 2021. Failure to pay shall lead to automatic suspension until the fine is paid in full. Should you fail to heed to the sanctions above, the CDP shall be constrained to take stronger disciplinary measures against all parties involved,” the panel statement read.

The same panel fined Tooro United with Shs. 500,000 for having two of their officials Edward Golola and Sulait Makumbi within the internal perimeter area without bench permits during the game Wakiso Giants at the Kabaka Kyabagu sports stadium in Wakiso district.

A new winner will be crowned at the final of the 2021 Masaza Cup championship after reigning and record champions Gomba failed to go past the group stage.

Gomba finished with four points, same as Kyadondo and Kabula as Buluuli (8 points) and Ssingo (6 points) qualified from the group to the treasured quarter final stage.

The five time winners of the tournament in 2004, 2009, 2014, 2017 and lately 2020 managed one win (3-1 over Kabula), a draw (1-all with Buluuli) and 2-0 identical losses to 2018 champions Kyadondo and 2015 champions Ssingo.

Gomba head coach Ibrahim Kirya said his team missed the ingredients of a championship winning team but was quick to add that they are on a rebuilding spree.

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has confirmed that they will cater for the travel and medical bills of Isma Mugulusi.

Mugulusi, a new signing for Sports Club Villa is set to travel to Europe for operation of his knee.

In a message delivered via the official twitter handle of the federation, FUFA revealed that they will foot the travel costs and medical bills for the player who scooped silver at the AFCON U-20 finals in Mauritania.

Mugulusi who is set to undergo an operation on his knee in Europe.

The latest development means that the initial fundraising plans that had been initiated by his manager Andrew Eugene Sepuya under the Sepuya Inc Agency are no more.

Mugulusi has previously played for Jinja Secondary School and Busoga United Football Club.

He is an attacking midfielder who is employed as a secondary striker with customary defense splitters and traditional goal bound shots.

FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned Police Football Club head coach Abdallah Mubiru for his behaviour during the game against Onduparaka.

Mubiru, who was sent off midway the first half of the game, expressed discontent with the manner of officiating in the 1-0 defeat to the Caterpillars.

The committee has slapped a two million shillings fine on the gaffer, a fine that should be paid before he returns to the touchline.

“The FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee has fined Police FC Head coach Abdallah Mubiru with a fine of UGX 2M for his statements made after the match with Onduparaka FC and abusive language towards a match official.

“He will not take part in any football activities until payment of the above prescribed fine. Mubiru breached the FUFA Competition Rules (CF Article 31 and 31(2).

“He has also been handed a suspended two-month ban.”

Okocha’s suspension arises from his behavior during the Caterpillars’ 2-1 loss to SC Villa in the league last week.

“FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel has suspended Onduparaka FC player Rashid Okocha from all football activities effective 30th November 2021 until 18th December 2021 for violating FUFA Competitions Rules and Regulations Article 31(2) and 31 (3).

“Okocha was seen playing in a violent manner towards an opponent, attacked the referee & delayed to get out of the field after being shown a red card in the match against SC Villa.

“He has also been fined UGX 500,000 to be paid by 18th December 2021,” a statement from the Competitions Disciplinary Panel of the federation reads.

The defender will thus miss league matches starting with this afternoon’s clash against Express at the Greenlight Stadium. He will also miss matches against Wakiso Giants, Mbarara City, and URA.

Uganda Premier League defending champions Express make the long trip to West Nile for a date with Onduparaka on Tuesday at the Greenlight Stadium.

The Red Eagles head into the tie on the back of a morale-boosting one-nil win over Wakiso Giants while the Caterpillars will be looking to bounce back from the 2-1 defeat to SC Villa.

While the Greenlight Stadium is a tough hunting ground for visitors, Express has lost their just once, during Onduparaka’s first season in the topflight league.

Express won at the ground during the 2019-20 season while the rest of the visits have ended in draws.

Victory for Express could lift them to second in the table if Wakiso Giants fail to get maximum points against Bright Stars.

The Caterpillars will be without Rashid Okocha, Gasper Adriko, and James Jarieko (all suspended), and Rashid Agau (injury) while Ivan Okello, Dudu Ramadhan, and Abasi Katerega will be subject to late fitness test.

On the other hand, Express is without Murushid Juuko, Daniel Shabene, Nicholas Kasozi and George Senkaaba (all illness), Martin Kizza and Abel Etrude (both injury). However, Issa Lumu and Arthur Kiggundu return from their suspension.

Striker Juliet Nalukenge boosted the Uganda U20 Women’s National Team camp after her arrival in the country.

The forward who turns up for Chrysomolia FC on loan from Apollon Ladies in Cyprus jetted into the country on Saturday to join the team base at Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisaasi.

She was later played in a friendly game against UCU Lady Cardinals FC, scoring two goals as the U20 team won 5-0.

The other goals came from skipper Fauzia Najjemba (brace) and Aisha Nantongo.

Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi, the head coach at Uganda U20 Women’s National Team, believes Nalukenge’s availability brings confidence to the team ahead of the crucial fixture against South Africa in the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.

“I’m happy that she is joining us a week to the game and this gives us enough time to prepare well and get the team chemistry,” he said.

Uganda will host South Africa in the first leg of the third qualifying round on 3rd December at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

The return leg will then come two weeks later in South Africa where the winner on aggregate will advance to the fourth round.

To reach this stage, Uganda eliminated Kenya 10-3 on aggregate while South Africa on the other hand ejected Mozambique with an aggregate score of 4-2.
