Ethiopian giants St George Football Club has officially announced the capture of the Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Charles Lukwago.

Lukwago moves to St. George from Uganda Premier League side KCCA Fon a two-year deal.

Lukwago joined his new teammates for the pre-season training in Debre Zeyit (Bishoftu) on Thursday, 16th September 2021.

The former Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU), Lweza, and Proline goalkeeper joins a growing list of Ugandan glovesmen to play in Ethiopia.

Posnet Omony, Hannington Kalyesubula, Denis Onyango, Isima Watenga and Robert Odongkara have all kept goal in Ethiopia.

FUFA has rescheduled the Stanbic Uganda Cup semifinal match between BUL Football Club and Express Football Club.

The fixture that was earlier scheduled for Wednesday, September 22 has been moved to the following day (Thursday, 23rd September).

The fixture has been rescheduled after the Red Eagles’ CAF Champions League return leg with Al Merrikh of Sudan was moved from Friday (Today) to Sunday, 19th September.

The other semifinal will be between Vipers SC and Police FC.

Express Football Club has confirmed that their return leg against Al Merrikh in the Caf Champions League of the first round has been moved to Sunday, 19th September.

The fixture had earlier been scheduled to take place on Friday but the hosts have utilized the window that offers them three days to have the game played and moved it to Sunday.

Club CEO Isaac Mwesigwa says the Red Eagles are not affected by the events and are focused on getting a decent result to continue their adventure in the competition.

“The return leg was scheduled to take place on Friday 17th September 2021 in Khartoum with kickoff at 8PM but that has since changed and will take place on Sunday 19th September 2021 at the Shikan Castle stadium in Obeid with kickoff at 9PM.

“Express FC is now solely focused on honouring the fixture and will elaborate about the events leading to the change of the venue and date at the appropriate time. The team departs Khartoum on Thursday afternoon for Obeid.”

Express FC lead 2-1 from the first leg and needs to avoid defeat to qualify to the pre-group round.

Express FC departs on Tuesday night for Sudanese capital Khartoum ahead of the return leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round tie with Al Merrikh.

The game is scheduled to take place on Friday, 17th September and head coach Wasswa Bbosa has named the 18-man squad for the encounter.

Bbosa believes that his side that carries a 2-1 lead from the first leg played at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende is well prepared to progress to the next round.

We’ve prepared well and we shall definitely do a good job, the team is aware of the job at hand and they all want to progress to the first round so we hope we arrive safely and execute the game plan.

Uganda Premier League side Onduparaka Football Club has unveiled youngsters James Jarieko and Oscar Aluma Musa.

Jarieko joins from Paidha Black Angels and signed a two-year contract that will see him stay at the Arua-based team until 2023.

Jarieko, formerly at BUL FC, is a product of FUFA Junior League and was part of the Uganda Cubs (U17) team that featured at the AFCON U17.

Meanwhile, Oscar Musa Aluma, popularly known as Lele, joins from rivals Arua Hill Sports Club.

The forward has signed a three-year deal that will keep him at the Greenlight Stadium till 2024.

Onduparaka released 14 players after a disappointing season including Top Scorer Kabon Living who joined URA.

The Caterpillars are also linked with a move for former captain Shaban Muhammad who was recently released by Vipers SC.

It’s full house at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru as Uganda’s U20 Women’s National Team prepares for the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

The team was joined by three Lady Doves players who had been at the CAF Women’s Champions League Cecafa Region qualifiers in Nairobi, Kenya.

Head coach Ayub Khalifan Kiyingi expressed delight at having a full squad at his disposal and says preparations are going on well.

“We have moved on well so far since entering camp,” Kiyingi said. “The girls have been well and we don’t have any injuries and the camp was boosted with the arrival of the three players from Lady Doves. I don’t doubt their fitness levels because they have been active.

Benjamin Ochan has vowed to win trophies again at the MTN-Omond Stadium in Lugogo after penning a two-year deal with KCCA FC.

The goalkeeper returns to KCCA for the third stint from AFC Leopards in Kenya says he is happy to be back at the club he grew up supporting.

“I am happy to be back,” said Ochan as quoted by the club media. “This is the team I grew up supporting, I have won things here and I hope I can win a few more.

“I am excited to get started. The team has a number of youngsters now compared to then and they need to be guided. Being one of the senior players on the team I will be able to offer guidance to the lads. 

“I want to win with KCCA FC. Could be the League of the Cup. The fans should expect beautiful football because we want to get back at the top.”

Ochan is the tenth signing for KCCA FC in this window joining Brian Majwega, Brian Kayanja, Geofrey Wasswa, Emmanuel Wasswa, Usama Arafati, Yassar Mugerwa, Innocent Wafula Esimu, Rogers Mato, and Derrick Ochan.

Vipers Sports Club has confirmed the departure of striker Muhammad  Shaban who has left the side by mutual consent.

Shaban joined the Venoms after being released by Moroccan side Raja Casablanca during the transfer window of 2019-20.

He spent his first season nursing a knee injury after undergoing surgery, keeping him out for the entire season.

“He had one more year to run on his contract but following positive and constructive recent discussions with him, both parties reached an agreement to terminate the contract.

“We thank Muhammad Shaban for his efforts and wish him the best of luck for the future,” the club said in a statement.

The former KCCA striker made 8 appearances, scoring one goal and one assist during the 2020-21 campaign.

It’s reported that Shaban will return to his home club Onduparaka Football Club.

URA Football Club has announced Sam Timbe will join the technical management team in the capacity of team manager for a year.

The CAF “A” licensed tactician who is a seasoned winner takes charge immediately with his first task at the club being the CAF Confederations Cup.

Timbe boasts of a managerial career that can be seen as a source of envy for many of his counterparts in the game thanks to the success marks it leaves.

A journey of milestones across the East African region and beyond the borders has seen him win a host of titles while at it.

He has won the CECAFA Kagame Cup with four different clubs including SC Villa (2005), Police FC (2006), Atraco from Rwanda (2009), and in 2011 with Tanzanian side Young Africans.

Timbe has also coached in Kenya with teams like Sofapaka and Tusker FC, who he left in 2018 to take a sabbatical and eventually return to join Malaysian side Persatuan Bolasepak Sarawak FC in 2020.

Timbe will work with Simeon Masaba as head coach, Robert Mukasa will be the assistant coach, Billy Kiggundu remains the goalkeeper coach, Edward Ssali will assume the physical trainer role while the club has a new role in Strength and Conditioning which has been taken up by Byron Okuba.

The confirmation also comes timely as URA FC prepares to host Ethiopian Coffee in the first leg of the CAF Confederations Cup Preliminary round fixture that will be played on Sunday, September 12th at the St. Mary’s stadium in Kitende.

URA FC has recalled goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo from his loan spell with Jinja side BUL Football Club.

The custodian had a good showing with the Tax Collectors last season, registering six clean sheets in twelve appearances in both the league and Uganda Cup.

Ssewalunyo was impressive against Police FC and the away 1-1 draw against Vipers in Kitende.

His incredible work in stopping the offensive prowess of Police FC, which had asked him to pull off a number of outstanding saves to ultimately claim the clean sheet at the conclusion of the match.

The Tax Collectors won the game 2-0 and maintained their grip at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League summit for that particular matchday.

With his recall complete, Ssebwalunyo will have to fight for a place in the team against Nafian Alionzi and James Alitho who has also returned to the club this off-season.

His presence will also be important as Simeon Masaba’s side intensifies preparations for the forthcoming CAF Confederations Cup Preliminary round fixture against Ethiopian Coffee this Sunday.
