SC Villa secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Simba FC in a Uganda Cup encounter on Wednesday evening.
Playing away at Namulanda Grounds, Villa had to dig deep to claim a spot in the round of 16.
The visitors dominated the first half, with Charles Lwanga coming close twice, but luck was not on their side.
The breakthrough came in the 50th minute when full-back Aslam Semakula found the net with a composed finish from close range.
He was set up by Ashraf Mulindi and made no mistake with only the goalkeeper to beat.
Despite Simba pushing forward in search of an equalizer, Villa’s defense remained resolute, denying the hosts any clear chances.
With this victory, SC Villa advance to the last 16 of the prestigious tournament.
Uganda Cup | Results
Total FC registered a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Express in a Uganda Cup encounter on Wednesday evening.
In a match played at Swinga Stadium in Yumbe District, the regional side stunned the struggling Red Eagles with a narrow win.
The hosts took the lead in the 11th minute and held on until the final whistle.
Express endured a grueling 533km journey from Kampala to Yumbe, which took a toll on the players.
The record champions also missed key players, including Richard Basangwa, Alex Wasswa, Sam Ssenyonjo, and Derrick Ngoobi.
Steven Senfuma’s goal secured Total FC’s victory, continuing their impressive run after upsetting Arua Hill 2-0 in the round of 64.
With this win, the Yumbe-based side has booked a spot in the round of 16 as the prestigious competition progresses.
FUFA Junior League | Result
BUL Junior Team secured a 2-0 victory against KCCA Junior Team in the FUFA Junior League in Jinja on Tuesday.
Richard Okello and Gift Mutalya were on target as the hosts secured maximum points on the day.
Amos Wabwire came close to giving the visitors a lead in the 10th minute but his effort went inches above the bar.
Yian Gatbel dribbled past two markers in the area and set up Wabwire but his effort was placed wide of the frame in the 27th minute.
Despite the early pressure from KCCA JT, the first stanza ended goalless setting up the tempo for the first stanza.
Eight minutes into the second half, Alfred Ssebunya came close but his effort bounced off the woodwork.
Okello broke the deadlock in the 67th minute before Mutalya doubled the lead three minutes later.
KCCA FC head coach Abdallah Mubiru has expressed concerns over poor officiating in recent Uganda Premier League matches.
The Kasasiro Boys have suffered consecutive defeats against Vipers and NEC, but Mubiru believes the refereeing decisions have not been up to standard.
One key moment of contention came when KCCA was denied a penalty after Alfred Mudekereza collided with Etienne Katenga inside the box.
“We had a moment when we were denied a clear penalty. That kind of incident demoralized us,” Mubiru said.
“We are doing our best to keep the players positive, but there’s a growing feeling among them that we are being treated unfairly.”
“It’s affecting their mindset, disturbing them, and causing them to lose concentration,” he added.
KCCA currently sits eighth in the league table with 24 points from 17 games.

Kitara secured a well-deserved 2-0 victory against Bright Stars in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Royal Park, Butema on Monday.
Kabon Living put the hosts ahead in the 23rd minute, guiding the ball into the net with a simple touch.
Frank Tumwesigye’s corner kick caused chaos in the Bright Stars’ defense, with goalkeeper Shamulan Kamya being outmuscled and dropping the ball for Kabon to score.
Despite creating numerous chances, Kitara’s forwards lacked sharpness in front of goal, much to the frustration of the loud home crowd.
Kitara made several substitutions, bringing on fresh legs in midfield.
Defender Alex Mandela came close to doubling the lead in the 70th minute with a header that went narrowly wide.
With ten minutes remaining, Benjamin Nyakojo almost gifted Bright Stars an equalizer, but goalkeeper Chrispus Kusiima made a crucial save to preserve Kitara’s lead.
Patrick Kaddu sealed the victory for Kitara in the 82nd minute with a delightful volley into the corner of the net.
This win lifts Kitara into fifth position with 25 points, while Bright Stars remain in 15th place with 11 points from 17 games.

KCCA fell to Vipers in a 0-2 loss to Vipers in the Uganda Premier League encounter at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Sunday.
Yunus Sentamu and Allan Okello were on target as Vipers secured maximum points on the day.
Sentamu broke the deadlock in the 28th minute after being set up by Karim Watambala in a quick transitional move.
The agile forward beat his marker Mustapha Mujunzi before he curled the ball into the corner of the net past goalkeeper Mutwalibi Mugolofa.
Two minutes later, Okello doubled the visitors’ lead after a howler by KCCA defender Filbert Obenchan.
The Kasasiro Boys were the better side in the second half but were not sharp enough to take away their chances.
KCCA fall 16 points behind log leaders Vipers who are cruising with 40 points in 17 games.

Lugazi secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Wakiso Giants in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Lugazi Stadium, Najjembe on Sunday.
Abdul Kalanzi’s goal was the difference as the hosts collected maximum points on the day.
Kalanzi guided the ball into the back of the net from the 12-yard mark in the 54th minute.
Lugazi were awarded a penalty after defender Shaibu Mtita fouled Freedom Mungudit in the dangerous area.
However, before that Lugazi’s custodian, Juma Mutebi had a stellar show keeping the hosts’ goal area free from danger.
The custodian thwarted Hudson Mbalire as well as Blanchar Mulaba’s rebound from close range.
The victory sends Lugazi to 11th position with 20 points while Wakiso Giants lie 14th with 13 points in 17 games.

URA secured a 1-0 victory against Maroons in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo on Saturday.
Moses Aliro was on target was the Tax Collectors returned to winning ways.
The quick footed foward Olimi jumped highest to connect with Olimi’s delivery from the left flank.
Olimi was firing on cylinders but was not sharp enough in the final third of the playing surface.
Ivan Ahimbisibwe placed the ball in the net but the assistant referee flagged it offside.
The victory takes URA in the third place with 27 points while Maroons lie eighth with 23 points in 17 games.

Patrick Kakande’s strike was the difference as SC Villa collected the maximum number of points on the day.
The visitors squandered several chances to find a leveller and that meant they lost back-to-back games.

KCCA suffered a 1-0 loss to NEC in the Uganda Premier League encounter at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Thursday.
The Kasasiro Boys started the second round on a wrong note with a loss as they fell to tenants at Omondi Stadium.
Enock Ssebagala headed the ball into the back of the net after being set up by Geriga Atendele in the ninth minute.
NEC kept knocking on the door but KCCA goalkeeper Mutwalib Mugolofa made a double save to palm away Ssebagala and James Jarieko’s effort.
KCCA tried to respond through Ashraf Mugume and Derrick Nsibambi but Hannington Ssebwalunyo was equal to the challenges.
The victory keeps NEC in the second position with 36 points, one behind log leaders while KCCA remain fifth on 24 points.
