NEC FC holds BUL FC in a one-all-draw stalemate in the Uganda Premier League clash played at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Sunday.
Rashid Okocha gave the visitors the lead before Samuel Ssekamatte levelled matters late in the second half to salvage a point.
Okocha nearly gave Hussein Mbalangu’s troops the lead in the 25th minute but BUL’s custodian Thomas Ikara denied the roving left-back.
Before the end of the first half, Okocha finally broke the deadlock to continue with his thrilling form since joining NEC.
Okocha was set up by Enock Ssebagala before he fired into the near post from a tight angle hence leaving Ikara helpless in the moment.
At the start of the second stanza, BUL introduced Gerald Ogweti to replace Alex Kitata.
Five minutes into the second stanza, Martin Aprem found himself in a great position but his first touch gave away the ball to NEC FC goalkeeper Samson Kirya giving away a great chance to restore parity.
Ssebagala nearly doubled the visitors’ lead with a long-range effort in the 56th minute but Ikara was equal to the challenge keeping the score intact.
With five minutes to end the game, Ssekamatte scored the equaliser. Nicholas Mwere whipped a great delivery into the area and the forward nodded it home to revive the home crowd.
Even with just a point from the game, BUL remains glued on the table with 26 points while NEC is third with 20 points in 11 games.
Next on the menu, BUL visits Vipers on Saturday 23 while NEC hosts Express at the MTN Omondi Stadium two days later.

Joseph Ssemujju rarely put a foot wrong, scoring a hat trick as URA registered a well-deserved 4-1 victory against Arua Hill in the Uganda Premier League.
In the game played at Metha Stadium in Lugazi, the Tax Collectors fought from a goal down to secure the fourth victory of the ongoing season.
Mansoor Safi tapped into an empty net to give Arua Hill the lead after connecting with Reagan Mpande’s delivery from the left flank in the sixth minute.
Joseph Ssemujju restored parity for the hosts with an easy finish capitalising on Laban Tibita’s delivery from the corner kick in the 26th minute.
Two minutes later, Ibrahim Dada opened his season account with a powerful strike from distance to give the hosts the lead.
Dada’s strike left Arua Hill’s custodian Richard Anyama helpless, capitalising on Amisi Bagwani’s delivery.
Nine minutes after the restart, URA extended their lead through Ssemujju.
The midfielder was released by Tibita before he beat his marker to pace and curled it home past Anyama.
Ssemujju completed his hattrick in the 72nd minute. His third strike was in the same fashion as the second after Norman Namanya set the forward going and the end product was perfect.
Despite the victory, URA FC remains seventh on the log with 16 points while Arua Hill SC are bottom of the 16-team table with only five points after playing 11 games.
URA will return to action on Thursday, December 21st as they host Busoga United while Arua Hill will host Maroons two days earlier.
Uganda registered a narrow 2-1 victory against Kenya in the CECAFA U18 Boys Championship on Friday afternoon.
In the game played at Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium at Mamboloe-Kisumu, both sides struggled to find life in the game and the first half ended 0-0 in front of the full stands.
After asking Uganda’s backline several questions, Kenya finally broke the deadlock in the 65th minute.
Syphas Otieno Owuor found the back of the net through a powerful low drive after being denied by Uganda’s goalkeeper and captain Abdu Maganda.
Uganda responded through Okello Batibwe twelve minutes later capitalising on Ibrahim Wanzala’s howler. The custodian failed to get a firm grip on Travis Mutyaba’s delivery and the midfielder tapped home from close range.
In extra time, Hakim Mutebi scored the winning goal and it was the golden moment that awarded Uganda all the bragging rights.
Shortly after the game, Uganda head coach Morley Byekwaso Ochama credited the players’ confidence and hard work.
“The players have accomplished the job and am glad we have lifted the trophy. Ugandans must be proud and happy and that was our target,” he noted.
In the classification game, Tanzania beat Rwanda 3-1 to finish third in the championship. Ally Sereri, Said Said, and John Misheto scored for Tanzania while Didie Ndayishimiye found the only goal for Rwanda.
Uganda Premier League | Friday Result
SC Villa edged Express 2-1 in the Uganda Premier League at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Friday.
The game kickoff was delayed for over 15 minutes due to a lack of enough security and that led to the game to be played for 40 minutes in each half.
Ivan Bogere had a chance to give Villa the lead in the eighth minute but his solo run was put to waste after guiding the ball narrowly wide.
Six minutes later, Alpha Ssali gave Express the lead after a deflected effort thus lighting up the stadium.
Isaac Waigona set up the youngster who pulled off a powerful effort that dashed off defender Arnold Odong before beating goalkeeper Norman Angfidru.
Ronald Ssekiganda nearly levelled matters but goalkeeper Abdul Kimera pulled off a stunning save after cooling the long-range effort.
Patrick Jonah Kakande restored parity after completing a well-built attack. Umar Lutalo and Kakande connected well to go through a forest of bodies.
Two minutes after the break, Bogere’s powerful header off Gavin Kizito delivery went narrowly wide putting to waste Villa’s chance to take the lead.
In the 50th minute, Bogere controlled the ball in the box but his wife effort skied way above the frame.
Abel Muwanguzi fouled Ssekiganda in the dangerous area and referee Mashood Ssali pointed at the penalty spot.
Lutalo stepped up on the occasion and calmly converted from the spot to give the visitors have a well-deserved lead on the 62 minutes.
The victory takes Villa to the sixth position with 16 points while Express is seventh with three points less after playing 10 points.
Villa returns to action on Wednesday, December 13 against Gaddafi while Express will visit Kitara at Masindi Stadium a day later.
Uganda Premier League | Thursday Results
Gaddafi Football Club edged army side UPDF Football Club 2-1 in the Uganda Premier League at Gaddafi Arena on Thursday.
Gaddafi came into the game after a brutal 6-1 defeat to KCCA FC last week at MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
Thomas Ochungo nodded Gaddafi into the lead with a perfect header off Frank Mulimi’s corner in the 43rd minute.
Four minutes past the hour mark, Gaddafi doubled their lead through Benson Muhindo after converting from the penalty spot.
Defender Bright Vuni pulled back one for the visitors but it was not enough to secure UPDF anything positive from the game.
It becomes UPDF’s third loss after falling to Arua Hill and Vipers respectively.
Gaddafi are now ninth on the log with 13 points while UPDF are 13th with eight points.
Gaddafi returns to action on Wednesday, December 13 as they visit SC Villa while UPDF host Mbarara City on Monday at Bombo.
Vipers SC registered a narrow 2-1 victory against Kitara FC in the Uganda Premier League at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Thursday.
In a game played under floodlights, the hosts fought from a goal down to register maximum points on the day.
Yunus Sentamu put a golden chance to waste after guiding the ball wide of the right post with only a goalkeeper to beat leaving Vipers’ fans in shock.
Jude Ssemugabi gave Kitara the lead after easily tapping home Denis Omedi’s delivery in the 12th minute.
Kitara nearly extended their lead but Jasper Aheebwa’s delivery rattled off the frame before it was cleared by Livingstone Mulondo.
With three minutes to play in the first stanza, Sentamu was fouled in the box after being fouled by defender Donato Okello.
At the start of the second stanza, Vipers introduced Ashraf Mandela and Allan Okello to replace Eric Kambale and Siraje Sentamu.
While Kitara also brought on Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye for Paddy Muhumuza.
Anukani extended the Vipers’ lead after being set up by Okello through a well-weighed through pass. The midfielder beat custodian Crispus Kusiima with a curling effort to complete his brace.
In the final minutes of the game, Ramathan Dudu nodded home but the assistant referee judged him to be offside.
The victory carries Vipers to the second position with 23 points while Kitara falls to fourth with 19 points.
Next on the menu, Vipers will visit Maroons on Wednesday, December 13 while Kitara host Express a day earlier in Masindi.

NEC FC registered a 2-0 victory against URA FC in the Uganda Premier League on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
In the game played at MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, Joseph Dhata and Cromwell Rwothomio scored the two goals as NEC outclassed the Tax Collectors to return to winning ways.
It was a tight contest from the first whistle as either side equally shared possession on the green turf.
Half way the first half, Ivan Ssebagala came close twice but was denied by Denis Otim before the second attempt skied above the frame.
Joseph Dhata shot NEC FC into the lead with four minutes to conclude the first stanza to breathe life into the game.
Dhata picked a loose ball after Hudu Mulikyi’s poor ball control and later released a powerful low drive past URA goalkeeper Denis Otim.
Ten minutes into the second half, Cromwell doubled the hosts’ lead with an easy tap-in a few meters away from the goal line. Okocha beat his marker Dada Ibrahim before he whipped in a well-weighed cross that was perfectly converted by Cromwell.
Six minutes after an hour mark, Cromwell connected with Okocha’s delivery but only tapped it inches wide.
Ivan Ahimbisibwe nearly pulled back one for the visitors but his bouncing header went an inch wide of the frame in the 74th minute.
The victory lifts NEC to the fourth position with 19 points while URA are eighth with 13 points after playing 10 games.
Hussein Mbalangu’s troops will return to action as they visit BUL on Sunday, December 10 while URA host Arua Hill on the same day.
Uganda Premier League | Wednesday Results
Mbarara City FC secured a 2-1 victory against KCCA FC in the Uganda Premier League at Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara on Wednesday.
It was the seventh loss for the Kasasiro Boys in the ongoing campaign but also the fourth away from home.
It was a tough start for the visitors who found it hard to play their free-flowing passes due to the unplayable ground.
Two minutes off the clock, Dominic Ayella and Emmanuel Loki were introduced to replace Ettiene Katenga and Gui Cungulo.
Ashraf Mugume shot KCCA into the lead through a well-curled freekick in the 35th minute of the game.
Sadat Nsubuga restored parity a minute later with a powerful low drive past KCCA goalkeeper Anthony Emojong.
KCCA tried to drop several long balls into the area in search of Muhammad Shaban but Mbarara’s backline stood tall to keep the score intact.
Henry Kitegenyi finally gave the hosts the lead in the 63rd minute after KCCA defenders slept on the job.
After the victory, Mbarara moved to 10th position on the log with 11 points while KCCA is 14th on seven points.
Next on the menu, Mbarara will visit UPDF on Monday, December 11 while KCCA will host Bright Stars on the same day.
CECAFA U18 Boys Championship | Result
The Uganda U18 Boys team edged Rwanda 1-0 in the semifinals of the CECAFA U18 Boys Championship on Tuesday at Jomo Kenyatta Mambelo Stadium.
The narrow victory meant that Morley Byekwaso’s troops would be in the final game of the tournament.
Uganda kicked off on the front foot with Travis Mutyaba coming close on several moments but failed to find the back of the net.
Abubaker Mayanja finally gave Uganda the lead in the 56th minute. The agile forward tapped into an empty net after Rwanda’s goalkeeper tried to palm away Abasi Kyeyune’s effort.
In the other semifinal encounter, Kenya and Tanzania played to a goalless draw in front of a fully packed stadium.
The two sides went in a penalty shootout and the tournament hosts emerged victors. Kenya’s custodian Ibrahim Wanzala thwarted two penalties to earn his side a ticket to the final.
Uganda will forget their poor start to the tournament after losing to Tanzania 1-0 in the first group game. However, they will now plot to beat Kenya in their den.
The final is set to be played on Friday, December 8.

Bright Stars shared spoils with SC Villa in a one-all stalemate in the Uganda Premier League at Kavumba Recreational Grounds, Wakiso on Tuesday.
The visitors kicked off with great pace and showed how badly they wanted to take the lead.
Umar Lutalo had a chance to give Villa the lead after being set up by Patrick Kakande but the midfielder’s effort went narrowly above the frame in the 12th minute.
Arnold Odong fouled Nelson Senkatuka in the dangerous area and the referee George Olemu awarded Bright Stars a penalty six minutes later.
Senkatuka made no mistake from the spot as he guided the ball into the back of the net from the 12-yard mark.
Hakim Kiwanuka squandered a great chance to level matters after he directed his shot wide in the 32nd minute.
Ivan Bogere levelled matters eight minutes later thanks to Kenneth Semakula’s assist from the right flank.
Two minutes after the restart, Villa had penalty claims after Kiwanuka was tripped in the box but the referee waved play on.
Bogere nearly doubled the visitors’ lead after meeting Ronald Sekiganda’s well-weighed pass but the shot went narrowly wide.
In the 83rd minute, Sekiganda cleared Senkatuka’s effort off the line to keep Villa in the game.
Amidst the several chances created in the game, both sides walked away with only but just a point.
After the stalemate, Villa moved to the sixth position with 13 points while Bright Stars are ninth with 11 points after playing 10 games.
