Elyon Volleyball Club secured a 3-0 victory against Police Volleyball Club in the 2024-25 National Volleyball League on Wednesday evening.

In the game that was played at Lugogo Indoor Arena, the youthful side maintained their perfect run, registering the third win of the day.

Elyon Volleyball Club got out of the blocks early edging out Police in the first set 24-21.

Police struggled in the second set with the reception due to Silver Owinjo’s diagonal spike, thus trailing by six points (25-19).

Despite Police’s fight in the third set, Elyon rotated their team but still came out of the contention with a perfect score.

Elyon Volleyball Club head coach Joshua Osia said it was a tough game, but their defensive prowess saw them through.

“It was a tough game, but I think today we had great defence and cover, which gave us the win against a good side like Police,” he said shortly after the game.

“I am glad that we are improving as a team. Out net defence in the previous games has been shaky, but I am glad we have looked better today in that area,” he added.

“It’s a young team, and I expect them to make some mistakes, but it’s a learning process. We shall keep working and supporting the boys so that we look better in the coming games.”

Serie A – Women

UCU Lady Doves registered a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Nemostars in the National Volleyball League at Nsambya Grounds on Sunday.

The Lady Doves extended their winning streak to four victories. Earlier, UCU secured victories against KAVC, Ndejje Elites, and KCCA.

Nemostars took an early lead of 25-20 as UCU Lady Doves struggled on the reception.

Despite the Mukono-based side’s push, Nemostars kept their heads high to take the second set 25-23, setting up a mouth-watering third set.

The Lady Doves got out of the shells and thumped Nemostars 25-12 in the third to return into the game.

The fourth set was closely contested as Nemostars wanted to close down the game, but UCU edged the block 25-22.

In the final set, UCU just did the needful to take it with a 15-11 lead, thus securing two points on the day.

UCU Lady Doves head coach Juma Osunge revealed the team hardly prepared fully due to tough time schedules.

“We have been training, but one thing our fans need to know is that most players who happen to also be students are doing internships,” he added.

“But I am happy that in the next three weeks, they will be done, and we shall resume our normal training,” he said.

“Some of our players had a very bad in office, but it’s normal. We shall go back and work upon our mistakes so that we find the lacking bond in the team.”

Uganda Christian University (UCU) Doves continued their impressive form in the National Volleyball League, securing a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Nemostars at Lugogo Arena on Wednesday evening.

Despite a shaky start to the season, the Doves have quickly found their rhythm, bouncing back from an opening-day loss to Elyon with consecutive wins.

Nemostars, on the other hand, were looking to maintain their unbeaten record.

The match was a thrilling encounter from the outset, with both teams showcasing their skills and determination.

Nemostars claimed the first set, taking advantage of UCU’s service errors.

However, the Doves rallied back in the second set, dominating the net and forcing their opponents into mistakes.

Mark Omara played a pivotal role in the Doves’ victory, leading the team with his powerful spikes and solid defence.

The third set was a closely contested affair, with both teams battling for every point.

UCU eventually edged out Nemostars, thanks to a crucial overreaching call that went in their favour.

The fourth set was a seesaw battle, with neither team able to gain a significant advantage.

UCU ultimately prevailed, securing the win with a determined effort.
