Express held BUL to a 1-1 draw in a Uganda Premier League encounter at Lugazi Stadium on Thursday evening.
Walter Ochora gave BUL the lead, but Sam Ssenyonjo restored parity for the visitors.
The game began sluggishly, with both teams taking time to settle. Goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa was called into action early as Richard Basangwa tested him with a trivela shot from the right flank.
With just two minutes left in the first half, Ochora broke the deadlock, heading powerfully into the right corner to give BUL the lead.
Express came out in the second half with renewed energy and determination. Geofrey Gaganga replaced Kenneth Asiimwe at the restart, and the midfielder’s introduction turned the game around.
The Red Eagles dominated the second half, pressing high and restricting the hosts’ attacking play.
Their efforts paid off when Ssenyonjo capitalized on a defensive error, poking the ball past Mutakubwa to level the score.
BUL nearly regained the lead when Swabiru Nsibambi’s effort narrowly missed the target, skimming wide by inches.
After nine games in the ongoing campaign, BUL sits fourth, and Express fifth, both tied on 13 points.
