Mbarara City held Kitara in a one-all draw in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Kakyeka Stadium on Friday.
Ronald Edwok fired the home side ahead before Patrick Kaddu restored parity in the closely contested game.
In the 12th minute, Joseph Kafumbe forced Kitara’s goalkeeper Chrispus Kusima into a big save before Dudu Ramathan cleared the ball away from danger.
Two minutes later, Joseph Akandwanaho came close to breaking the deadlock, but his volleyed effort went narrowly wide of the target.
Kusiima made a full stretch to clear the ball before forward Seri Ariguma got a foot on the through pass as the hosts kept knocking on the door.
Arigumaho failed to place the ball on target after beating the custodian. Dudu made a sloppy back pass, but the forward’s effort missed the target by a whisker.
Edwok fired the home side in the lead after 84 minutes. Kusiima made a big save to deny Akandwanaho but later fumbled with the ball, and Kitara was punished.
Late in the game, Kaddu rose highest to node home Denis Omedi’s corner kick, thus salvaging a point for the visitors.
A point leaves Mbarara City in the 10th position with six points while Kitara lies 13th with four points after playing five games.

NEC registered a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Maroons in the Uganda Premier League encounter at MTN Omondi Stadium on Friday.
Paul Mucurezi and Muzamiru Mutyaba scored for the hosts while Jacob Okao guided the ball into the back of the net.
It was an even affair as no side failed to find the back of the net in the first 45 minutes of the game.
However, Maroons took the lead Okao deflected the ball into the back of the net as he tried to clear Brian Omirambe’s effort in the 48th minute.
Nine minutes later, Mucureezi restored parity after converting from the 12-yard mark.
NEC kept pushing for the lead and their hard work yielded in the 72nd minute as Mutyaba fired home against his former paymasters.
The victory takes NEC on the log summit with 12 points while Maroons lie 11th with five points.
Express left-back Kizza Mustafa has bid farewell to Uganda Premier League side Express in an emotional statement.
Kizza joined the club in the recent transfer window, but his stay has been cut due to a reported transfer to a League Two side in Egypt.
“As I prepare to embark on a new journey, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible time I have spent with all of you,” he stated through his social media platforms.
“The memories we’ve created together will forever hold a special place in my heart. Your unwavering support and passion have inspired me every day, and I am thankful for the bonds we’ve formed,” he added.
“Though I am moving on, I will carry the spirit of our team with me wherever I go. Thank you for believing in me and for being a part of this unforgettable chapter

The Red Eagles have already replaced Mustafa with former KCCA left-back Herbert Achai, who made his debut in the 2-2 draw against Police.

Vipers will take on Wakiso Giants in the highly anticipated Uganda Premier League encounter at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Thursday.
This has always been one of the interesting league fixtures due to the environment in which it’s played since it’s a Wakiso Derby.
Wakiso Giants come in this game on the back of losing against UPDF, the head coach Steven Bengo revealed that they have worked on their mistakes mainly about taking away the chances.
“We prepared well because during this course of the international break we have worked on our scoring and finishing,” he said.
“We are working hard to improve this team. Some things take time but am happy with the improvement of these players and we shall keep working towards improving,” he added.
Wakiso Giants will miss the services of Marvin Mukiibi, Alex Komakech, Derrick Kaija, William Kizito Luwagga, Rahmat Senfuka, and Vicent Zziwa due to injuries.
On the other hand, Vipers come into this game with a positive feeling after beating SC Villa in a 2-1 victory. The situation of the team’s head coach Nikola Kavazovic is unclear since serving his suspension.
Currently reports indicate that John ‘Ayala’ Luyinda will be in charge of Vipers as they lock horns with the Purple sharks.

Lugazi and Mbale Heroes shared spoils in a one-all draw in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Lugazi Stadium in Najjembe on Wednesday.
The recently two promoted teams met in a closely contested game that was played in front of quite a fair crowd.
It was Asaph Mwebaze’s first game as Mbale Heroes’ gaffer after taking over from Richard Malinga who decided to step away from the office.
Gideon Etau placed the visitors in the lead in the ninth minute after Lugazi failed to clear their lines.
However, Lugazi levelled matters through Derrick Mwanje with a greater header in the 35th minute after Mbale Heroes backline were caught napping.
Lugazi’s search for the maiden point in the league will extend into matchday six.
The point keeps Mbale Heroes in the 12th position with four points while Lugazi sit bottom of the log with two points.

Police held Express in a two-all stalemate in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Kavumba Recreation Ground, Wakiso, on Wednesday.
The heavy downpour delayed kick-off, but when action got underway, the crowd was treated to a thrilling game of football.
Isaac Ogwang broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute to place the home side in the driving seat.
The hosts held onto the narrow lead until the break to set up a mouth-watering second-half clash.
However, after the halftime break, Express restored parity through Sam Ssenyonjo three minutes into the second stanza.
In the 79th minute, Ssenyonjo’s great finish guided the ball into the back of the net to place the visitors in the lead.
Before the full-time whistle, Ogwang was tripped in the dangerous area, and the referee awarded Express a penalty.
The forward stepped up to the occasion and salvaged a point for the Cops.
The point leaves Express in the third position with eight points while Police are seventh with seven points.

Maroons registered a 1-0 victory against Lugazi in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Prison Grounds in Luzira on Sunday.
Brian Omirambe scored the only goal to give Maroons their maiden victory of the 2024-25 campaign.
It was a closely contested game from the first minute until the hosts broke the deadlock deep in the game.
In the 89th minute, Derrick Basoga’s deader was denied by Lugazi right back Gift Lubega’s hand on the near post.
The referee was in the right position to see what happened before he pointed straight at the penalty spot.
In the same spirit, he dished Lubega a second yellow card that saw him off the field of play.
Omirambe stepped up to the occasion before he sent the custodian the wrong way.
The victory takes Maroons to the 11th position with five points out of the possible 12.
Lugazi is stuck on the bottom of the log with one point after playing four games.

URA secured a well-deserved 4-0 victory against URA in the Uganda Premier League at the Mbale Municipal Stadium on Saturday.
The game was delayed due to a heavy downpour, but after a while, both sides walked onto the soggy ground before action went underway.
Ivan Ahimbisibwe netted a hattrick in a three-star performance as the forward shooting from all angles of the stadium.
Amisi Bangwani sealed the victory for URA, who condemned Mbale Heroes to the first home victory of the 2024-25 campaign.
Ahimbisibwe placed the visitors in the lead with a powerful header in the 12th minute of the game.
Five minutes later, Ahimbisibwe doubled URA’s lead with a fine finish thanks to Moses Aliro’s delivery.
Ahimbisibwe sealed his hattrick after scoring the third goal of the day in the 33rd minute as URA added salt in the hosts’ wounds.
Bruno Bunyaga had a big chance to make it four before the break, but Mbale Heroes’ custodian made a massive save.
In the 57th minute, Amisi Bagwani made it by four with a long-range shot as the visitors secured maximum points.
The victory takes URA to third place with seven points while Mbale Heroes are 12th with three points.

Police secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Kitara in the Uganda Premier League encounter on Thursday.
Augustine Kacancu scored the all-but-important goal as the Cops secured maximum points away from home.
It was joy and smiles for Police, who had secured their maiden victory of the 2024-25 campaign, while on the other hand, it was stress and tough faces for Kitara, who lost the third straight game.
Police’s Kacancu broke the deadlock in the 29th minute with a volley past Kitara goalkeeper Jamil Kiyimba.
Isaac Ogwang’s freekick was parried away by Kiyimba, but Kacancu guided the ball into the back of the net off a rebound.
In the 35th minute, Brian James Obedi thought he had doubled the visitors’ lead, but the assistant referee Elizabeth Nassolo flagged it offside.
In the second half, Kitara made several changes to try and create chances in the tight game, but Police stood tall.
Before the end of the game, Patrick Kaddu nearly found the leveller, but his touch off Lutalo’s delivery went narrowly wide.
The victory takes Police to the seventh position with six points while Kitara falls to the 11th place with only three points after four games.
After the international break, Kitara will face off against Mbarara City in the ‘Western Uganda’ derby on Friday, October 18.
On the other hand, Police will face off against Express at Kavumba Recreation Ground, Wakiso, on Sunday, October 20.

NEC will be aiming to maintain their perfect run in the Uganda Premier League as we get into matchday four of the 2024-25 campaign.
NEC is set to lock horns with Express in the highly anticipated encounter at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, on Thursday.
NEC has kicked off with three straight victories into the campaign, putting them in a great position to contend for the title.
NEC head Hussein Mbalangu opened the lid, revealing that it’s not by mistake that they are in such a position.
“It’s not by mistake that we (NEC) are in this position. We had a great pre-season but also recruited quite well,” Mbalangu said.
“Express is a good team, but we are determined to play against them. So, we have to multiply our effort if we are to pick a positive result,” he added.
On the other hand, Express has managed to collect four points in three games of the season.
Having a balanced head-to-head, the Red Eagles will feel motivated going into the highly anticipated game.
