KOBs extended their dominance in the National Rugby Sevens after winning the Soroti 7s, their third win from as many circuits.

The series defending champions beat Heathens 14-00 in the final to move 11 points clear on the log.

Heathens went to Soroti for the ultimate prize and the intention was clear when they denied Pirates another trip to the final courtesy of a 10-05 win in the semifinal.

Heathens conceded a penalty try after Norbert Okeny was sin-binned following an obstruction offence on Adrian Kasito who had the tryline in his sight.

Aaron Ofoyrwoth could have put Heathens on the board but knocked on just a meter away from the try area as KOBs took a 07-00 cushion to the break under the dark skys.

Kasito crashed over later in the second half, and despite protests from the Heathens players, assistant referee Raymond Kisekka was convinced and KOBs’ try stood. Kasito converted thereafter to put the game beyond Heathens’ reach.

Heathens remain third but move to within two points adrift of second-placed Pirates who have 55 points after finishing third in Soroti.

The victory puts KOBs in strong position to defend their 7s title, with three circuits (Kabale, Rujjumba, and Coronation) still to play.
