Express Football Club is through to the finals of the 2021 Cecafa Kagame Cup after beating KMKM 2-1 on Tuesday night at Azam Sports Complex.

Eric Kambale scored the winning goal from the penalty spot in added time to send the Red Eagles to the final of the regional club competition for the first time since 1995.

While Express went into the fixture as strong favourites, it was the Zanzibar side that took the lead at the stroke of halftime through Ibrahim Abdallah.

Wasswa Bbosa's men made amends ten minutes into the second half with Muzamir Mutyaba drawing Express level through a well-executed freekick.

The search for the winner went on until the third minute of added time when Kambale calmly converted from 12 yards after winger Martin Kizza had been fouled in the area.

Express await the winner between Azam and Nyasa Big Bullets who face off on Wednesday in the other semifinal.

The Cecafa Kagame Cup final will be played on Saturday.
