Vipers Junior Team edged BUL Junior Team in a 1-0 victory in the ongoing 2023 FUFA Juniors League at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Thursday evening.

The game pulled a huge crowd to witness a football fiesta and they were not disappointed due to the quality contest that was staged at Njeru.

In the 21st minute, Vipers JT came so close to taking the lead through midfielder Ibra Ssebagala but his header went wide.

After 45 minutes of the first stanza, both sides had fired blanks and it was still goalless leaving the fans hungry for the second half.

Olimi Nyarwa finally broke the deadlock in style hence placing Vipers JT in the lead in the 52nd minute of the game.

Seven minutes later, Olimi nearly doubled Vipers JT’s lead but his powerful effort went wide of the frame by just inches.

In the 72nd minute, Vipers JT captain Abubakar Walusimbi was rushed off the field of play in an ambulance after a nasty collision thus being replaced by Frank Sekajako.

The final 10 minutes showed how important the game and the referee was brought to work since the fouls were flying from all angles.

In the final minute of the game, BUL JT was reduced by a man after Abubaker Mugoya received marching orders thanks to a second booking.

Vipers’ joy will be short-lived since they have another tough duel against Prosper Soccer Academy on Friday, August 4.
