KCCA FC seeks to bounce after falling to Vipers SC in a 1-0 loss.
The Lugogo-based side will visit old rivals Express FC in a game they badly want to win.
KCCA are third on the log with 45 points, two behind-log leaders Vipers and SC Villa, gathered in 24 games.
A win in the clash will take them to the summit and a statement would also take them about the Jogoo.
“We badly need the win against Express. When two elephants meet on a battleground, it’s energy and confidence that creates the edge,” Charles Nsanziro said in the presser ahead of the Kampala derby.
“We need to forget our previous game and get our sight on the future. We have prepared well and want to put it into action so that we pick the maximum points,” he added.
The Kasasiro Boys have picked only a point in the last two games. Nsaziro has underlined that the duel against the old rival is a must-win if they are to keep their chances of winning the title bright.
“Getting back to winning ways will get us back on the right path going forward. We are in a crucial time with our eyes on the title and that means we have no room for error.”
“I am so thankful to all the fans who have stood beside us. We love them and call them to keep by our side. The 12th man is always important because he creates a conducive environment for football to be played,” he concluded.
KCCA will as well miss the services of Tshisungu Kakonde who was slapped with a fine keeping him out of action for the next eight games.
They will also have to wait for a report from the sick bay weighing the fitness levels of both Mustapha Kizza and Domic Ayela who have been part of the training amidst suffering knocks previously.
Arua Hill SC returned to winning ways with a well-deserved 4-1 victory against Express FC in the Uganda Premier League at Barifa Stadium.
Gadafi Wahab (brace), Rashid Kawawa and Innocent Media were on target as the Kongolo humbled the Red Eagles in their den.
Anwar Ntege was on target to find Express’ only goal in the one-sided encounter.
The hosts opened the party early in the second minute as Wahab raised high to node the Kongolo ahead.
Twenty-four minutes later, Kawawa introduced himself from the sickbay with a sweet volley to double Arua Hill’s lead in style.
In the 27th minute, Ntege reduced the deficit for the visitors by pulling back one and restoring hope.
Twelve minutes into the second half, quick-footed forward Media restored Arua Hill’s two-goal lead through a fine finish.
In the 75th minute, Wahab completed his brace punishing Express who easily gave away possession in the dangerous area.
The victory sent Arua Hill to fourth position with 37 points while Express is 10th at 30.
Arua Hill’s next text will be a visit to BUL on Wednesday, April 10 while Express play KCCA next at Wankulukuku on Sunday, May 13.
Bright Stars will have to deal will the task of winning their third game in a row and second in the league after registering four losses earlier.
After eliminating KCCA FC from the Uganda Cup, they went on to pick a 1-0 victory after edging Onduparaka away from home.
The latest assignment on the table will be Express FC as they face off in the Uganda Premier League at Kavumba Recreational Grounds, Wakiso.
Ahead of the game, Asaph Mwebaze has expressed readiness revealing they have a set game plan to pull off another victory.
“We have been preparing well for this game, and the players are in good shape. We know that Express are a strong team but we have set up a game plan to pick maximum points,” Mwebaze was quoted by the club’s website.
“We have been working on our tactics and I believe we are prepared for what so ever will come our way. The target is clear we are not in the best position on the log and we have no room to drop more points,” he added.
In the same breath, right-back Jonathan Odong stressed that have been working hard to end the poor run and it’s now up to them to safeguard the winning streak.
“We know that they are good, but we are confident in our abilities. We have a strong team spirit and will fight until the final whistle to get the victory,” he said.
Bright Stars are 10th with 27 points and are not so far from the red zone hence requiring them to pick maximum points from each game they play as the season hits the final bend.
While Express have won their last three games to end an 11-game winless run to recover their campaign.
Express are ninth with 28 points with seven wins, seven draws and seven losses in 21 games played.
