The long-awaited FUFA Drum final will see Busoga Province take on Lango Province at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday, March 22, 2024.

Busoga Province started the fourth edition against Karamoja in a double leg and the former secured both the home and away wins.

At the group stage, Busoga was pitted in group C alongside Bugisu Province and West Nile Province.

Busoga faced Bugisu in the opening group duel and the sides shared spoils in a goalless draw in the first leg before a one-all draw.

Busoga later thrashed the defending champions in a 4-1 victory before they concluded the group with a 2-1 loss to West Nile.

After a cold and warm journey in the group stage, they qualified for the quarterfinals with five points setting a date with Tooro.

In the first leg, Busoga registered a 3-1 victory in Kamuli thanks to Ibrahim Mugulusi, Reagan Kalyowa and Isaac Wagoina.

But the story was different in Fort Portal as they lost to Tooro on the same scoreline before they held their nerves to win in the spot kicks.

At the semifinal stage, Busoga locked horns with Teso Province and they came out victorious in both legs with a 3-1 aggregate score.

Lango Province will play the FUFA Drum final for the second time in a row having lost to West Nile Province in the previous campaign.

This time round they will be taking on Busoga Province in the final slated for Saturday, March 23 at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Lango began their course with Kigezi and Kampala Provinces at the group stage.

In the first group game, they beat Kigezi Province 1-0 away before picking yet another 2-1 win against Kampala Province in front of their home crowd.

In the returning legs, they easily went past Kigezi in a 3-0 victory before sharing spoils with Kampala in a one-all draw.

As they rolled into the last eight, they secured a 2-0 victory against Acholi away from home before they sealed the tie with a one-all draw.

It was a sweet revenge in the semifinals as they took on West Nile a side to which they lost in the last edition’s final.

Lango managed a 2-0 victory at home thanks to Denis Omedi’s brace before they fell to West Nile away from home in a 1-0 loss.

Busoga Province and Lango Province will be meeting in the FUFA Drum finals on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

To reach this level, Busoga United registered a 1-0 victory at home as they walked to the final with a 3-1 aggregate advantage.

Busoga will have a big challenge ahead of them as they take on Lango Province, a side that lost in the previous finals.

On the other hand, Lango walked straight to the final after losing to West Nile in the previous edition.

It was sweet revenge as Lango this time eliminated West Nile in the semifinal round.

However, the second round saw West Nile nearly come back as they secured a 1-0 victory.

Shaban Muhammed’s lone strike in the 69 minutes gave West Nile hope but hardly completed the assignment at Green Light Stadium, Arua.

Denis Omedi’s brace in the first leg gave the Black Rhinos an advantage hence guiding them in the finals.

Lango Province will have a big test in the finals as they will be doing all it takes to tame Isaac Waigona who is on stellar form.

Lango suffered a 1-0 loss to West Nile in the second leg of the FUFA Drum semi-finals at a game played at Greenlight Stadium on Sunday.

However, it was not enough to send them into the final since Lango came into the game with a 2-0 advantage.

In Front of their home fans, West Nile came into the game so motivated to turn around events with a comeback. 

In the early minutes, Shaban Muhammed attempted an overhead kick while Rwothomio Cromwell’s header sailed inches wide of the frame.

Halfway through the first stanza, Emmanuel Obua made a goal-line clearance denying Alfred Leku whose header got on target while standing in a forest of bodies.

As the first stanza came to closure, Tonny Kyamera made a double save denying Shaban and defender Brigt Vuni from close range.

Shaban finally broke the deadlock in the 68th minute. The agile forward was quick to put a touch on Fred Amaku’s effort and the home side erupted in jubilation.

Six minutes later, Shaban’s header off Rashid Okocha’s delivery rattled off the frame before Obua made a timely clearance.

The backline partnership of Musa Ramathan and John Paul Acire was outstanding, giving a great shield to Lango’s goal area.

In the other game, Jerome Kirya’s goal sealed Busoga Province’s qualification to the final after beating the Teso Province home and away.

Lango Province registered a 2-0 victory against West Nile Province in the first leg of the FUFA Drum semifinals at Akii Bua Stadium, Lira on Sunday.

Kitara FC’s forward Denis Omedi scored twice in the second half as Lango claimed all the bragging rights from the clash.

In the third minute, Allan Okello set up Omedi with a darling cross but West Nile’s custodian Richard Anyama finger-tipped it out for a corner kick.

Halfway through the first stanza, Anyama was brought back in action making a full stretch save to palm away Innocent Maduka’s header.

Before the end of the first half, Moses Aliro’s goal was cancelled but before that, Anyama blocked Okello’s goal-bound effort thrillingly.

In the second half, Bright Vuni failed to guide Gadafi Wahab’s free into the net after he got a free header in front of goal.

Omedi finally fired the hosts ahead ten minutes into the second stanza. The forward beat his marker to pace before his low effort got past Anyama and the home crowd got onto their feet.

Omedi sealed off the emphatic victory in added time with a diving header hence converting Emmanuel Obua’s darling delivery from the left flank.

The two sides will be locking horns in the second leg of the semifinal clash at Aki Bua Stadium on Saturday, January 27, 2024.

Busoga Province registered a 2-1 victory against Teso Province in the first leg of the semifinal clash of the ongoing FUFA Drum at Soroti Stadium on Saturday.

Isaac Wagoina scored in either half of the game to ensure Busoga secured the bragging rights after the first leg of the semifinals.

Robert Eseru pulled back one for the hosts in the entertaining piece of action.

Amos Kirya gave Teso’s backline a lot of headache as he continuously made great and quick runs at the right flank but his two quick crosses were hardly attended to.

Halfway way the first stanza, Jerome Kirya remained with a goalkeeper to beat but lost balance before he skied his attempt.

In the 36th minute, Simon Opio Misaki tripped Amos Kitya in the box thus awarding Busoga a penalty. Wagoina stepped up and simply guided the ball past goalkeeper Hassan Matovu to place Busoga ahead.

Bakari Magunda nearly levelled matters but his header went wide by inches after he had beaten the whole of Busoga’s backline.

As Teso was fighting to get back into the game, goalkeeper Matovu made a big howler as Wagoina’s chilly freekick went through his legs.

The hosts did not let their guards low as they kept pushing till the last minute of the game to try and give the home crowd something to smile about.

Lanky forward Eseru finally gave the hosts the consolation goal with four minutes left on the clock.

The other semifinal clash will see Lango take on West Nile at the Akii Bua Stadium in Lira today (Sunday, January 21).

The thrilling FUFA Drum 2023 finally entered the quarterfinals stage and two games were played on Saturday, November 23, 2023.

Lango and Teso registered positives gathering maximum points in the first leg of the quarterfinal ties.

In a game played at Boma Grounds in Kitgum, Lango registered a 2-0 victory against Acholi in an exciting showdown.

Last year’s finalist, Lango Province was on the receiving end for the most time in the game but somehow squeezed through to take the first-leg advantage.

Emmanuel Obua gave the visitors the lead in the 68th minute with a long-range effort.

Seven minutes later, Denis Omedi doubled Lango’s lead with a lofted effort past Acholi’s goalkeeper Derrick Ochan, who was off his line.

The two sides will meet in the second leg on Saturday, November 18 at Akii Bua Stadium in Lira.

In the other game, Teso Province edged Kigezi Province in a 2-1 narrow victory at Soroti Stadium.

Dickson Niwamanya placed Kigezi in the driving seat four minutes past the half-hour mark. 

Ten minutes into the second half, Isaac Ogwang restored parity levelling the game as the home crowd got on top of their voices.

In the 79th minute, Ogwang who was later named the man of the match gave the hosts the lead.

The two sides will meet in the decider at Kihihi Primary Ground in Kanungu on Saturday, November 12.

Despite the Bugisu Province’s 2-0 victory against West Nile in the last group game, they bowed out of the FUFA Drum 2023.

Bugisu came into the tie seeking four goals and a victory to go past Busoga Province and earn a spot in the last eight.

They earned the three points but then only got two goals and it was not enough to send them past the group stages.

Usama Kayemba and James Alitho scored for Bugisu while West Nile hardly responded.

The first stanza was closely contested as both sides were conscious of not letting in any goal and by halftime it was still goalless.

But three minutes into the second stanza, Kayemba nodded home a softball from close range to give Bugisu hope.

Bugisu kept pushing for the second but West Nile kept calm and composed.

Halfway through the second half, Cromwell Rwothomio thought he had levelled matters after chipping the ball past goalkeeper Edward Kasibante but the goal was flagged offside.

With three minutes to play, the ball went off defender Patrick Bayiga’s hand in the area and Bugisu was awarded a penalty.

Golkeeper-cum-forward Alitho stepped up for the challenge and converted from the spot sending goalkeeper Norman Angfidru the wrong way.

West Nile and Busoga qualified from Group C into the last eight.

Teso, Acholi, Lango, Kigezi, Buganda and Tooro are the other Provinces that will play in the quarterfinals.

FUFA Drum 2023 | Saturday Results

Teso Province registered a 2-1 victory against Ankole Province in the ongoing FUFA Drum in a game played on Saturday evening.

Isaac Ogwang’s brace gave Teso Province the edge to register a narrow victory away from home.

The away side started like a bush on fire hence stanging their intention right away from the on set.

In the 12th minute, Isaac Ogwang placed the visitors ahead hence piling a load on the shoulders of Ankole Province.

Four minutes later, Ogwang doubled the lead thus pushing Teso even further into the driving seat.

At the end of the first 45 minutes, Teso was in the lead comfortably creating a somber mood for the home fans.

At the top of the hour, Ankole halved the deficit through Sunny Kaija.

Ankole threw several bodies upfront seeking for a let leveller but Teso’s backline was up for the challenge.

The home crowd rallied their boys as they pushed them to get back into the game but they couldn’t pick a point from the game.

Lango Province becomes the first team to take up a spot in the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2023 FUFA Drum.

Lango Province easily registered a 3-0 victory against Kigezi Province in the FUFA Drum at Akii Bua Stadium, Lira on Sunday evening.

Innocent Maduka failed to tap home Moses Aliro’s fine cutback with only two minutes into the game.

Two minutes later, Aliro was left with a goalkeeper to beat after Denis Omedi released the forward but Isaac Mulindwa rushed off his line to pull off a stunning save.

In the 54th minute, Darius Ojok finally broke the deadlock with a powerful effort into the back of the net.

It was the first touch of Ojok who had just come onto the field off the bench to create an instant impact on the frozen duel.

Two minutes later, Aliro set up Ojok in a great place steps away from the box but the youngster’s effort was collected by the Kigezi’s custodian Mulindwa.

With 15 minutes left on the clock, the scorer Ojok turned into a provider setting up Aliro through a defence-splitting pass.

Aliro lopped the ball above goalkeeper Mulindwa to double Lango’s lead in a goal that sent the crowd on its feet.

Three minutes to full-time, Dickens Okwir hit the last nail in Kigezi’s coffin after being set up by Aliro to conclude the business of the day.

In the first leg, Lango edged Kigezi in a 1-0 narrow victory away from home.

Lango leads Group B with six points, they have registered two victories in two outings.
