Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC registered a 2-0 victory against Kakamega Homeboyz in a friendly game that was played at MTN Omondi Stadium.
Usama Arafat and Julius Poloto were on target to see that the football fiesta ended with KCCA taking home all the bragging rights.
The event started with a light downpour before Ugandan artist Spice Diana lit the stage with her ‘Siri Regular’ vibes after announcing the 2023/24 seasonal squad.
In the fourth minute, Ashraf Mugume set up Etienne Katenga whose resultant shot went above the frame slightly.
Eleven minutes later, Adilson Bruno released a darling cross into the box but Muhammad Shaban failed to meet the ball, wasting a clear-cut chance.
At the half-hour mark, Usama put the Kasasiro Boys ahead through a powerful effort past the Kakamega Homeboys’ custodian Faruk Shikhalo.
Usama met Bruno’s low drive, he cooled the ball before placing it at the far post to break the deadlock and finally open the party.
KCCA gaffer Daniel Sergio Tranguil made a quick change introducing Moses Waiswa for youngster Joel Sserunjogi before the break.
Roving forward Hillary Othieno nearly levelled matters as the first stanza was ending but the youthful goalkeeper Anthony Emojong rushed off the goalline to make a stunning save.
In the second stanza, Sergio made ten changes, giving a chance to new players to allow them to get a feel of the green.
KCCA nearly doubled the lead through forward Vinicius Micheal but his well-timed header was palmed across the goalline.
Captain Julius Poloto rose highest and nodded home capitalizing on Haruna Lukwago’s well-weighed cross in the 67th minute.
The Lugogo-based side will now switch attention to their encounter against Wakiso Giants in the FUFA 8 at Lugogo.
KCCA FC XI: Antony Emojong (GK), Adilson Bruno, Herbert Achai, Filbert Obechan, Emilson Gozanga, Joel Sserunjogi, Carlos da Silva, Ashraf Usama, Etienne Katanga, Muhammad Shaban
