NEC registered a 2-0 well-earned victory over Booma FC in the FUFA Big League on Thursday.
Richard Ajuna and Tonny Kiberu were on target as NEC claimed the maximum points in the duel played in Bugolobi.
It was a much-needed win that kept the chase for the top three alive since they are just a point below log leaders Kitara FC.
In the 16th minute, the roving left-back Ajuna gave the hosts the lead thanks to the continuous attacks that were laid by the home team.
NEC continued to pile more pressure on the defence of the visitors but failed to send the ball past the dotted line.
After recess, Kiberu was on target to double the lead and put NEC in the comfortable driving seat.
Marvin Kavuma and Julius Walugembe came close but wasted glorious chances that would have widened the score.
It was the eighth loss of the Hoima-based Booma FC and the 15th win for NEC who look to be cruising all the way.
The victory kept NEC in the second position with 50 points with Booma fifth on the log with 36 points.
