Uganda Premier League giants URA FC have strengthened their defensive ranks with the acquisition of experienced defender Bright Vuni on a two-year contract.

The Tax Collectors confirmed the signing on their official website on Wednesday, September 11th.

Vuni joins URA from UPDF FC, where he was a key figure last season.

Known for his defensive solidity, aerial ability, and occasional goal-scoring prowess, he is a valuable addition to the Tax Collectors’ backline.

The defender replaces Najib Fesali, who departed for BUL FC at the end of his contract.

Vuni brings a wealth of experience to URA, having previously played for Arua Hill SC in the top tier.

He becomes URA’s third new signing of the summer, joining Isma Mugulusi and Abraham Tusubira.

The Tax Collectors will kick off their 2024/25 campaign with a tough test against KCCA FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium on Friday, September 13th.

Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC is set to celebrate the KCCA FC Day today themed ‘Ekiri e Lugogo’.

The highly anticipated celebrations will be held at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

The day will feature several events, such as unveiling the 2024/25 squad as well as the squad.

But before that, there will be a game between KCCA Legends and Uganda Cranes Ex internationals as the club rolls back memory lane.

KCCA CEO Anishar Shahir Muhoozi has emphasised that the event is meant to connect with the club’s fans.

“The event is meant for the club to connect with its fans and supporters,” she stated.

“We want to give our fans and supporters a chance to come together and celebrate the club ahead of the 2024-25 season,” she added.

“The friendly match between our legends and ex-internationals are opportunities where we seek to renew the memories of the yesteryears.”

The event will be free of charge for all the club’s fans and well wishers.

Uganda Premier League side Express has confirmed Saidi Kyeyune as their latest signing in the ongoing transfer window.

This comes after the experienced midfielder was released by URA Football Club, a side he had played at for a significant time.

Kyeyune is viewed as a replacement for Ramz Kawooya, who left the Red Eagles to join Jinja-based BUL FC.

Kyeyune is expected to boost Express’ middle park as he will pair with Emmanuel Wasswa behind youngster Geofrey Gaganga, who also recently joined the side.

Express will kick start the upcoming season against Mbale Heroes on Saturday, September 17, at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

Uganda Premier League side Bright Stars has confirmed contract extension for two of their key players to end transfer speculations.

Custodian Derrick Were and midfielder Cleophus Fiat have extended their stay at Bright Stars after putting pen on a year employment contract.

Were joined Bright Stars in 2021 switching from Kyetume. His journey began from the club’s Junior Team but currently a firm member in the senior team.

In the same breath, midfielder Fiat joined the club in 2021 switching from Kigezi Homeboys FC and since then his stay at the club has been intergral.

Fiat has greatly improved his craft of breaking opposition play and ochestrating attacks thus dictating the tempo of the game.

Bright Stars will kick start the campaign against Wakiso Giants on Sunday, September 15 at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.

Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC has beefed up their technical bench with Yasin Mugabi as a second goalkeeping coach.

Mugabi joins the Lugogo-based side on a three-year employment contract that will keep him at the club until 2027.

The development was confirmed via the club’s official website on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.

“Yasin Mugabi, a former KCCA FC player, has penned a three-year contract with the club and joins the goalkeeping department as a coach,” the statement partly reads.

According to the club, Mugabi will work with goalkeepers’ coach Moses Oloya to groom and develop the goalkeepers at the club.

Mugabi previously played for KCCA FC in the 2014-15 season before he moved on to a number of clubs in Uganda and Zambia.

Currently, KCCA has three licensed goalkeepers, including Anthony Emojong Okiramu, Mutwalibi Mugolofa, and youngster Humphrey Oyirwoth.

Serbian gaffer Dusan Stojanovic and SC Villa decided to part ways on a mutual consent.

The shocking revelation was confirmed on Saturday, July 27 via the club’s official social media handles.

“Sports Club Villa has, today, mutually parted ways with its head coach, Dusan Stojanovic,” the statement partly reads.

“Stojanovic leaves with sincere appreciation for steering the club through a very tough season to its 17th League Championship.”

“The club wishes him well in his next endevours and thanks him gor his services. Coach Morley Byekwaso immediately takes over as the interim head coach,” the document concludes.

Stojanovic joined SC Villa on a three-year contract but the latest development means that it has been terminated.

This happens days as SC Villa prepare to take on Ethiopia’s Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) in the first roumd of CAF Champions League preliminary round.

But before, SC Villa will take part of the FUFA Super Eight where they are pitted against the Uganda Cranes Select team.

Uganda Premier League side URA Football Club bid farewell to long-serving captain Saidi Kyeyune.

The emotional farewell followed the expiration of Kyeyune’s three-year employment contract signed upon his return to the club in 2021.

Kyeyune returned to the Tax Collectors’ camp after a short stint with Sudan’s El Merriekh.

“Farewell to the midfielder Saidi Kyeyune. Wishing you the best in your future endeavours. Once a Tax Collector, always a Tax Collector,” the announcement read.

Kyeyune joined URA FC in 2011, switching camps from Maroons FC before he cemented his name on the walls of the Tax Collectors.

In his long term at URA FC, he helped the club to win the Uganda Cup and the Mapinduzi Cup. He also represented the club in the CAF Confederation Cup.

According to the club, Kyeyune is set to be honoured by URA in a testimonial game that will be played at Nakivubo Stadium before the start of the Uganda Premier League.

Uganda Premier League side Vipers SC president Dr Lawrence Mulindwa announced the inuaguration of the club’s day aired out as ‘Vipers Day’.

The six-time league champions has for long grown in stature by competiting both on the local and continental level and the development of Vipers Day is the latest step towards consistent growth.

The development was made public in a press conference held today Tuesday, July 16 at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

“I am here to announce the innuaguration of Vipers Day which will be marked annually,” Mulindwa confirmed.

“On this day, we are transforming from Vipers fans day that has been marked in the past five years into the Vipers Day that will include all stakeholders and not just the fans,” he added.

“Our partners, sponsors, bankers and well wishers are all invited for a special day that will include feasting, entertainment and of course football as we look at the bigger picture of transforming the game of football in this country.”

According to the club, the fans will have a chance to register officially as fans of the Kitende based side before witnessing two great games of football.

The club will also use the opportunity to unveil their technical staff together with the whole squad.

Uganda Premier League side Express has confirmed that they are set to leave Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, for Nakivubo Stadium.

This was confirmed through a press statement shared via the club’s official social media platforms.

This will put an end to a remarkable era of 33 years in which the Red Eagles have used Wankulukuku as their home.

According to the club, the development is in line with achieving more and more success as planned by the club’s management.

“As we look forward to the future, we have made the difficult decision to move to Nakivubo Stadium for the 2024-2025 season. This decision has not been made lightly and is part of our broader strategy to grow and reach new heights,” the statement partly reads.

“Wankulukuku has not only been home but also a sanctuary for our fans, a place where countless moments of joy, triumph, and even heartache have bound us all together. We are grateful for the opportunity to call Wankulukuku home for three decades.”

Express recently lost to SC Villa 1-0 in a friendly encounter at the grand opening of the newly built stadium.

Uganda Premier League side KCCA Football Club has confirmed the signing of defender Hassan Muhamud in the ongoing transfer.

Muhamud’s switch to KCCA reunites him with gaffer Abdullah Mubiru, with whom they worked both at Police FC and Mbeya City FC.

The development was confirmed via the club’s official website on Sunday, July 15, 2024.

“Hassan Muhamud has joined FC on a two-year deal until the end of the 2025-26 season,” the statement partly reads.

Muhamud revealed to KCCA media his delight in joining the Lugogo-based side

“I am delighted to join KCCA FC,” Muhamud said before adding; “Every player desires to play for a club like KCCA FC.”

“I have a good relationship with the manager, and he has shared with me his plans. I am certain that we can achieve so much as a unit.”

“The club has fantastic, and this kind of competition keeps every player on the toes, and it is healthy for all of us,” he concluded.

Muhamud has previously played for Express FC, SC Villa, Onduparaka, and Police in the Uganda Premier League.
