Cricket Cranes added bronze to Uganda’s medal count at the 13th African Games after defeating Kenya by 106 runs on Saturday.

Uganda won the toss and the decision was to open the batting. Roger Mukasa and Simon Ssesazi put together an opening stand of 61 before the former departed.

Ssesazi who was underwhelming against Namibia in the semifinals took on the Kenyan bowlers blasting 66 off 44 before losing his wicket with Uganda at 125.

The tone for the batting had been set and when Dineshi Nakrani walked on, there was no slowing down and he attacked the Kenyan bowlers, knocking a quick an unbeaten half century that helped Uganda post a very competitive score of 206 runs.

In the defense of the total, player of the match Cosmas Kyewuta never let Collins Obuya and Nelson Odhiambo last beyond the opening two overs.

In the fourth over, Bilal Hassun bowled the dangerous Rakeep Patel and from that point, Kenya were on the ropes.

Shem Ngoche tried to put up some resistance but never found a partner before he was bowled by Kyewuta.

In the end, Cricket Cranes limited their Kenya to 100 to complete a double over their East African neighbours at the tournament and win the bronze medal.
