The Prime Minister for the Republic of Uganda Rt Hon. Robinah Nabbanja officially flagged off the 2022 MTN Kampala Marathon at Kololo Ceremonial Independence grounds. Rt. Hon Nabbanja flagged off the majority of the runners in the 10KM category at exactly 7:30 AM. Earlier on, the main marathon (42KM) and those in the half marathon (21KM) runners had set off at 6:30 AM. https://twitter.com/mtnug/status/1594205087546703872 These were joined shortly by the 5KM runners. The MTN Kampala Marathon returned following a two-year absence because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The chilly weather on the day did enough justice to the runners from all walks of life engaged in this marathon. The marathon drew all personalities; young and old, big or small, rich and marginalized. https://twitter.com/mtnug/status/1594209793279135744 The runners arrived at Kololo as early as 5 AM ready to engage in the marathon whose main cause is to run for babies. The limbering session for the runners to condition and warm up their bodies commenced by 6 AM, conducted by the Sukuma dancers at the spacious grounds. The warm up progressed until 6:30 AM when the first group of runners in the 42 Kilometers category were flagged off. https://twitter.com/mtnug/status/1594175441149067264 These were shortly followed by the half marathon (21KM) and 5KM runners. Anchor sponsors and the main organizers MTN Uganda had the biggest tent erected where their officials and VIP guests rested. The rest of the partners too, had their tents by the side. https://twitter.com/mtnug/status/1594201527878565890 A couple of people optimally utilized the marathon opportunity to exercise, breaking off the hitherto demanding work schedules to sweat for a cause; “Run for Babies”, network by meeting up with old friends and establishing new contacts as well.
