Uganda Tennis Association will be proud of the progress of the national U14 and U16 teams registered in the 2023 ITF/CAT Zonal Championships.

With stakes too high and all to fight for, Uganda managed to have a pair in the single's finals of the tournament and also a pair in the doubles final.

The youngsters even had to face each other, case in point, Abdul Latif Sendoywa and Jonah Ssentongo who met in the Semifinals of the ITF/CAT 14 & Under Individual Championships, the former making the last hurdle.

Ssentongo appeared to be the star of the show as he earlier attracted the crowd with his relentless toughness against Eden Ayden Mbakuye of Burundi.

The excited home crowd was given top-tier entertainment as Jonah overcame his opponent in two sets 7-5/6-2.

Elsewhere, Troy Zziwa marked greater progress after earning silver in the 2019 12 & Under Championships in Nairobi, Kenya and onward to AJC Casablanca, Morocco by walking away with silver again.

Sendyowa- Gold medalist at the 12 & Under Junior Championships 2021 Kampala, Uganda - who missed out on AJC Sousse, Tunisia due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Bronze Medalist at the ITF/CAT 14 Under Championships Kigali, Rwanda 2022, Sendyowa is now a finalist 14 & Under 2023.
