Uganda Tennis Association (UTA) has intensified preparations for the 2023 ITF/CAT East Africa Junior Tennis Championships from 3rd to 17th January in Burundi, Bujumbura.

A team of boys and girls in the age group of Under 14 and Under 16 players are currently training and the backroom staff has been fortified with the arrival of Strength and Conditioning Coach Emmanuela Oroma and Sport Psychologist Edgar Kazibwe.

According to the Uganda Tennis Association, "One Team per age group per gender will automatically qualify for the Final Event of the Africa Junior Teams Championships (AJC) which will take place in May/June 2023."

Coaches Edward Odockcen and John Oduke will be coaching the teams and travelling with the groups to Burundi as they seek to make a mark in the tournament.

The tournament is organised by the Confederation of African Tennis in Conjunction with the International Tennis Federation and Burundi Tennis Federation.
